Okay, let me tell you, Jenna Ortega really surprised everyone at the Actor Awards this past Sunday! She managed to sneak in and out of the event, held at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown LA, pretty unnoticed – it was quite the move! As someone who keeps an eye on these things, I have to say, it was a clever bit of navigating the red carpet chaos.
Jenna Ortega, the 23-year-old star and producer of Wednesday, wore a delicate ivory slip dress made of silk and lace for her recent appearance. The dress, from Christian Cowan’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, was paired with grey stockings and high black peep-toe heels, all chosen by her stylist, Enrique Melendez.
Okay, seriously, did you see Jenna Ortega at the event? Her outfit was just…perfect. It was this amazing, vintage-inspired look, like something straight out of the 50s, but with this cool, slightly roughed-up vibe. And the jewelry! Those long necklaces were everything. But honestly, the hair…I’m obsessed with her dark hair, and it looked SO full. I just found out her stylist, César DeLeon Ramirez, used a hairpiece to give it extra volume! Genius. She just understands how to create a whole mood, you know?
Make-up artist Mélanie Inglessis enhanced the popular young actress’s lips with a slightly overdrawn pink line and accentuated her eyes with dark makeup for the awards show, which was streamed on Netflix.
Jenna Ortega was nominated for her performance as Wednesday Addams, but Catherine O’Hara, who sadly recently passed away, won the award for best actress in a comedy series.
The Canadian comedian, who sadly passed away at age 71 on January 30th due to a blood clot in her lungs, was honored after her death with an award for her role as Patty Leigh, a former studio head, in the Apple TV series, The Studio.
The California-born actress, who is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, was visibly emotional as Seth Rogen, the creator and star of ‘The Studio,’ praised her for being both kind and talented, and for never downplaying her own abilities.
Ortega and O’Hara formed a connection while working together on the movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, where Ortega played O’Hara’s step-granddaughter, Astrid Deetz. The film was a major success in 2024, earning $452 million worldwide.
In a post to her 38.9 million Instagram followers on February 1st, the Emmy-nominated actress described Catherine as one of the most beautiful and wonderful people she’s ever worked with and gotten to know.
I’ll always treasure the moments we had and everything she taught me. She was a truly inspiring and remarkable person – one of the best. I’m incredibly grateful for everything.
Interestingly, Ortega also gave Seth Rogen the award for best comedic actor, and Rogen shared that Catherine O’Hara would often completely rework her lines and consistently delivered brilliant performances.
The 43-year-old comedian from Canada also said that she proved you can be both incredibly intelligent and genuinely kind, and that these qualities don’t have to conflict with each other at all.
Netflix announced a third season of Wednesday last July, meaning Jenna Ortega will return as both an executive producer and the famously stoic Wednesday Addams, the student at Nevermore Academy.
The third season of the Addams Family series, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Tim Burton, will again star Winona Ryder, Eva Green, Chris Sarandon, and Joanna Lumley.
Jenna Ortega will next appear in the science fiction adventure film, The Great Beyond, directed by J.J. Abrams. The movie, also starring Glen Powell, Samuel L. Jackson, and Sophie Okonedo, will be released in the US and UK on November 13th.
In addition to her work with Dior Beauty, Jenna Ortega will appear in two upcoming films: the science fiction movie Klara and the Sun directed by Taika Waititi, and The Gallerist, a comedic thriller inspired by the Miami Art Basel art fair and directed by Cathy Yan.
Ortega’s most recent two films, Hurry Up Tomorrow and Death of a Unicorn, were both critical and commercial failures, receiving very negative reviews and performing poorly in theaters.
