Everyone had been anticipating this moment. While Manchester was excited to host the Brit Awards for the very first time, the highlight for many came when Dolly Parton, appearing via video link from Nashville, brought Sharon and Kelly Osbourne onto the stage, captivating the entire audience at the music industry’s biggest event.
Kelly, age 41, wore a beautiful, long black velvet dress, and Sharon, 73, looked stylish in a well-cut pantsuit. They were at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award for Ozzy, and both wore black to remember him after his passing last July.
Sharonās speech honoring her late husband, the energetic lead singer of Black Sabbath, was deeply moving and heartfelt. He bravely fought Parkinsonās disease and passed away from a heart attack at 76, just two weeks after a final concert in Birmingham.
She spoke fondly of his humble beginnings in a working-class neighborhood of Birmingham, recalling how he went on to become a hugely famous and well-respected musician.
I’m so proud to accept this award on behalf of my wonderful husband. I truly wish he could be here to receive it himself.
Sharon spent about five minutes enthusiastically sharing stories about Ozzy’s accomplishments, just like her fans would expect. She explained that Ozzy always disliked speeches, but she couldn’t resist talking at length. Their daughter, Kelly, looked lovingly at her mother and appeared a bit delicate as she waited to speak about her father as well.
She expressed her gratitude for everyone’s love and care for her father, just like her family feels. She then lightheartedly cheered for her father Ozzy’s favorite football team, Aston Villa, adding, ‘Hopefully this doesn’t offend anyone in Manchester!’ before shouting ‘Up the Villa and Birmingham!’ This playful declaration was met with good-natured boos from the audience.
It was hard not to notice that the mother and daughter held hands throughout the evening, likely finding comfort and support in each other amongst the overwhelming and often loud environment of music industry professionals and the press.
According to a witness, Kelly has changed dramatically. She used to be very outgoing and vocal, but now she’s quiet, seems nervous, and appears to be struggling to cope.
According to an insider, Sharon Osbourne is doing much better, but Kelly is still struggling with her grief. Throughout the glamorous and lively awards show ā where rising star Olivia Dean won four awards ā many people from the music industry, as well as friends and supporters, stopped by the Osbournesā table to express their sympathy.
Afterward, the two went to the stylish Sony Music after-party at Soho House Manchester. The event was crowded and champagne was plentiful.
Kelly quickly put on a light jacket over her dress, possibly to deflect unwanted attention, and slipped out the back door later that night.
The party didn’t wrap up until the early morning, and guests left with generous goody bags worth around Ā£2,000 each. These bags included items like Antler overnight bags, Sony headphones, Harry Styles perfume, and Diptyque candles.
The Warner Music after-party was buzzing across town, and model and DJ Kim Turnbull was definitely the center of attention. She didn’t need a famous partner like David Beckham to turn heads. Arriving with her friends in a stylish, see-through black dress and leaving her boyfriend, Romeo, at home, the 24-year-old spent the night dancing and DJing, clearly the star of the show.
Dua Lipa briefly stepped away when her 20-year-old brother, Gjin, started DJing. She and her father, Dukagjin, 56, then joined the excited crowd to record him performing.
Pop star Dua Lipa turned heads in a stunning Thierry Mugler corset as she attended several parties, where she was spotted dancing with music producer Mark Ronson. They had previously shared the stage at the Brit Awards, where Ronson, age 50, received a lifetime achievement award for his work in music.
Guests enjoyed a delicious spread of mini burgers, cheese toasties, and lamb arancini, paired with Moƫt champagne, palomas, and spicy margaritas, all at The Cut & Craft steakhouse in Manchester.
Okay, let me tell you about Harry Styles at the Brits! He absolutely killed it on stage with this amazing, sparkly pin-striped Chanel suit ā total disco vibes. But when it came to the after-party scene, he’s always a bit of a mystery. I heard he made a quick appearance, and then just⦠vanished! He clearly prefers heading home after a big performance, and honestly, I respect that. Some of us just need our downtime!
Gene Gallagher, the 24-year-old singer for the band Villanelle, was celebrating with friends after his uncle Noel won a Songwriter of the Year award.
He spent the night moving between parties, leaving the Warner Music event to join his uncle and 26-year-old cousin, Anais, at the Sony party. His uncle, Noel, 58, mostly chatted with friends and, like a true celebrity, slipped out the back exit.
It’s no surprise to see a Manchester icon like Bez, 61, out on the town. He was at the Warner Music party and really stood out, buzzing around the dance floor with his usual energy, even amongst a much younger crowd.
Even with the dim lighting, it was easy to see him because of his bright red and checkered jacket and cap.
During the Group Of The Year presentation to Wolf Alice, he was difficult to manage. According to the Daily Mail, staff had to briefly remove him from the red carpet during interviews because he kept running around and disrupting things.
Universal Music threw an afterparty at The Ivy, celebrating the success of rising stars Olivia Dean, 26, and Lola Young, 25, who both won the Breakthrough Artist award and enjoyed a night of celebration.
Like last week’s Baftas, the very first Brits ceremony in Manchester, while fun and exciting, definitely had its share of problems and challenges.
ITV were forced to censor host Jack Whitehall and others on stage throughout the night.
During the event, 37-year-old Jack seemed to joke about former ambassador Peter Mandelson while talking to Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham. However, ITV cut the audio, and viewers at home heard bird sounds instead of what Jack said.
Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder, 63, was later muted too for swearing on stage.
Now that Manchester has officially been chosen to host the Brit Awards for the next two years, everyone is eager to see what exciting changes and surprises the 2025 show will bring.
