On Sunday, Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall hosted Hollywood’s leading actors for the 32nd annual Actor Awards, previously called the SAG Awards.
Kristen Bell, the host of the show, stunned everyone with her entrance wearing a striking, custom-made gown by Georges Hobeika. The dress had a particularly bold and revealing neckline.
Dove Cameron arrived at the red carpet event wearing a beautiful black and white dress by Monique Lhuillier, featuring a corset design.
The actress embraced a darkly glamorous look, completing it with a bold black lipstick and a sparkling diamond necklace. She finished the outfit with tall, strappy white heels.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m loving the refresh we’re seeing with this year’s awards show! They’ve officially become ‘The Actor Awards,’ and it’s a really smart move. It’s all about putting the focus right where it belongs – on the incredible actors celebrating each other – and making the show instantly recognizable around the world, thanks to that iconic statuette, ‘The Actor.’ It’s a simple change with a big impact!
Zanna Roberts Rassi was a vision in a bright pink McQueen gown.
Tiffany Taylor wowed in a strapless gold dress that showcased her toned arms.
Paige DeSorbo was every inch the golden girl in a Marmar Halim sleeveless gown.
Keltie Knight arrived in a white look with silver and gold embellishments.
Hannah Kosh looked sensational in a cream silk dress.
Kristen Bell returns as host for the third time, having previously emceed in 2018 and 2025.
As a lifestyle expert, I can tell you that bringing Kristen back to host feels incredibly right. It’s like welcoming a beloved friend – someone genuinely fun and engaging – back into the fold. That’s exactly what show-runner Jon Brockett and the whole team were hoping for, and I think viewers will feel that warmth too!
The awards ceremony will be streamed live on Netflix, recognizing outstanding work in movies, TV shows, and limited series. There are six nominees in each of the 28 categories, except for the awards for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, which have eight nominees.
The movie ‘One Battle After Another’ received the most nominations with seven, while ‘Sinners’ is a close second with five.
The competition for Best Actor is fierce this year, with strong contenders including Leonardo DiCaprio for his role in One Battle After Another, Timothée Chalamet in Marty Supreme, Michael B. Jordan for Sinners, Ethan Hawke in Blue Moon, and Jesse Plemons for Bugonia.
The competition is fierce for the award for Best Actress, with strong performances from Jessie Buckley in Hamnet, Rose Byrne in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Kate Hudson in Song Sung Blue, and Emma Stone in Bugonia.
Several actors received nominations in supporting categories: Benicio Del Toro and Sean Penn for their work in One Battle After Another, Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein, Paul Mescal for Hamnet, and Miles Caton for Sinners. They are all contenders for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role award.
The nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actress are a diverse group, featuring both established stars and fresh faces: Odessa A’Zion for her work in Marty Supreme, Ariana Grande for Wicked: For Good, Amy Madigan for Weapons, Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners, and Teyana Taylor for One Battle After Another.
The award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture highlights the strong teamwork of the actors in five films – Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Sinners – proving that great acting is still a key focus of these awards.
Television, meanwhile, has its own battleground.
When it comes to comedy, The Studio led the pack with five nominations, proving it’s a popular choice among actors.
The show is nominated for an award recognizing the best ensemble performance in a comedy series, competing against Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building.
As a huge comedy fan, I’m so excited to see who wins this year! The nominees are incredible – we’ve got amazing performers like Kathryn Hahn, Catherine O’Hara, and Seth Rogen, all from The Studio, plus Jean Smart who was brilliant in Hacks. And how fantastic is Jenna Ortega in Wednesday? Adam Brody’s work in Nobody Wants This deserves recognition, as does Ted Danson from A Man on the Inside, and of course, Martin Short is always hilarious in Only Murders in the Building! It’s going to be a tough race!
The drama series category is highly competitive. Shows like The White Lotus, Severance, The Diplomat, The Pitt, and Landman are all vying for the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
The drama acting awards were given to a talented group of performers, including Britt Lower, Parker Posey, Keri Russell, Rhea Seehorn, Aimee Lou Wood, Sterling K. Brown, Billy Crudup, Walton Goggins, Gary Oldman, and Noah Wyle.
Limited series and television movies continue to prove their awards muscle.
Claire Danes (The Beast in Me), Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco (Adolescence), Sarah Snook (All Her Fault), and Michelle Williams (Dying for Sex) are all nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series.
The actors being considered for best male performance include Jason Bateman in Black Rabbit, Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham for Adolescence, Charlie Hunnam in Monster: The Ed Gein Story, and Matthew Rhys for The Beast in Me.
Yet no awards season is complete without a little controversy.
A major surprise for many was the omission of Cynthia Erivo from the nominations for her work in Wicked: For Good, as she was widely predicted to be included.
People noticed that Gwyneth Paltrow and Dwayne Johnson weren’t nominated, and some also wondered why there weren’t more actors from outside the United States among the nominees.
More removals, like the ‘Sentimental Value’ segment from the film category and ‘Death by Lightning’ from television, sparked even more discussion online.
Despite the overall results, fans were happy to see nominations for Odessa A’Zion for Marty Supreme and Wunmi Mosaku for Sinners. This shows the variety of talented performers featured this year.
I’m so thrilled to hear that Harrison Ford is receiving the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award! It’s incredibly well-deserved – he’s a true icon and really brings a sense of weight and importance to everything he does, and this award really reflects that.
Throughout his more than 50-year career, Harrison Ford has become a central figure in some of the most successful film series ever made, including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, and The Fugitive. This has established him as one of Hollywood’s most reliable and long-lasting leading actors.
I was absolutely thrilled and humbled to learn I’m receiving the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award this year. It truly means the world to me.
It means so much to me to be recognized by other actors. I’ve dedicated my life to filmmaking, and I’m incredibly thankful to have worked with such talented people on set. Being part of this film community is something I truly cherish.
This year’s Ambassador for The Actor Awards is Yerin Ha, the rising star known for her role in Bridgerton.
Ha expressed her excitement about being named The Actor Awards Ambassador, explaining that the event is special because it’s a celebration by actors, for actors.
It’s incredibly rewarding to be acknowledged by the community you care about. As someone passionate about acting and working with others, it’s a real honor to represent up-and-coming actors and be involved in an event that celebrates the art of storytelling.
