Britney Spears’ Iranian-American ex Sam Asghari delivers shocking take on Trump’s strike on Iran

Sam Asghari, Britney Spears’ former husband, has shared his opinion on the recent military actions taken by the U.S. and Israel against Iran this past Saturday.

The 31-year-old actor, who is Iranian-American and was once married to the pop star for almost two years, recently discussed the matter with TMZ while out in Los Angeles.

Reports indicate that Israel, with support from the United States, conducted an air strike on Iran Saturday, reportedly resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several other high-ranking officials.

When asked for his opinion, Asghari expressed his gratitude for America, stating he’s always been a proud American and attributes all his success to the opportunities he’s been given here.

The actor said he feels an even stronger sense of American pride today, and expressed his thanks to all members of the U.S. military.

Asghari further expressed that Khamenei’s death was ‘well-deserved.’

His actions caused widespread devastation, including the loss of American and Iranian lives, and he should have faced consequences beyond simply death.

Asghari described the government as ‘brutal’ and stated it needed to be removed no matter the consequences, citing the extensive chaos it has caused in the Middle East.

As a long-time admirer, I was really touched when he expressed his hope for a peaceful Middle East, and for peace everywhere, really. It’s something I know he truly believes in, and it’s inspiring to hear him say it.

‘War is absolutely not great and I want nothing but peace for this world,’ Asghari explained.

As the conversation concluded, the celebrity emphasized that the people of Iran are distinct from their government.

Asghari expressed hope that the people of Iran will achieve freedom and reclaim their country.

I really hope we see fewer civilian deaths. Everyone deserves to live, and I’m hoping that will be the case.

He went to a rally in Los Angeles last January to show his support for freedom in Iran, and he posted a video of himself there on Instagram.

I noticed he was carrying an older Iranian flag – the one they used before the 1979 Islamic Revolution. It was really interesting to see a piece of history like that being displayed.

He captioned his post with ‘Los Angeles protest’ and added red, white, and green emojis.

In 2022, the celebrity posted a video explaining their support for the protests happening in Iran.

Following the 1979 revolution, the new Islamic Republic imposed its beliefs, promoted its message, and established a dictatorial rule over the population.

He continued, ‘It slaughtered, murdered and stole from innocent people.

This nation has gained a reputation as a major supporter of terrorism, leading to widespread international condemnation due to its current leadership. Tragically, it also subjects its own citizens to extreme violence and oppression.

Born in Tehran, Iran in 1994, Asghari moved to the United States at the age of 13.

In a 2021 interview with Men’s Health, the Hacks star shared that they felt lucky to have been raised experiencing two very distinct cultures.

He explained they chose to settle here to fully immerse themselves in the culture, learn the language, and become active members of the community. He also mentioned he picked up English while in high school.

Sam Asghari met Britney Spears for the first time in 2016 while working on the set of her ‘Slumber Party’ music video.

The couple got married in June 2022, but less than a year later, he filed for divorce, stating they had differences that couldn’t be resolved.

Britney Spears and Sam Asghari finalized their divorce in December 2024, after reaching a settlement in May of that year.

Britney Spears shared a video of herself dancing on Instagram on Wednesday, and her outfit briefly slipped during the performance.

She donned a plunging lace bodysuit as she grooved to Clean Bandit’s 2016 track Rockabye.

While dancing, the performer briefly exposed herself when her outfit shifted as she moved, and the group she was with had trouble maintaining their formation.

In the video, she had long blonde hair that reached past her shoulders and wore bright, colorful bracelets.
