Arknights: Endfield is a new game from the creators of the popular 2019 tower defense game, Arknights. It’s a free-to-play action RPG with elements of factory simulation, published by GRYPHLINE and developed by Hypergryph. If you’re new to the game and want to learn how to build a strong team with all the different character classes, this Team Building Guide is designed for you.

How to build a strong team in Arknights: Endfield

In Arknights: Endfield, understanding how to build a strong team is crucial from the start. While the original Arknights emphasized where you placed units and controlling enemy movement, Endfield is all about fast-paced combat, how your team is positioned, and how well they work together. A team with a good mix of skills will always be more effective than one that just focuses on dealing a lot of damage.

In Endfield, every character has a unique job in battle, and knowing these jobs is key to building a strong team. Some characters focus on dealing damage and taking down enemies quickly, but they need help from others to be truly effective. Support characters keep the team going with healing, boosts, shields, and abilities that weaken enemies. The best teams have a variety of these roles, instead of relying on just one type of character.

Character Classes and how they work

You’ll build a team of four operators, each with a unique class. The classes are based on those from Arknights, so returning players will quickly understand how they work. If you’re new to these types of games, don’t worry – I’ll explain everything! There are six classes to choose from: Caster, Defender, Guard, Supporter, Striker, and Vanguard.

  • Guard: Guards are skilled at making enemiesĀ VulnerableĀ and applyingĀ Physical Statuses. They are a DPS-based class.
  • Vanguard: Vanguards are great at restoring Skill Points (SP) to help their teammates’ skill casting. They are support-based class.
  • Caster: Casters are skilled at applyingĀ Arts InflictionĀ andĀ Arts Reaction. They are your DPS-based class.
  • Defender: Defenders are highly durable. They are skilled at protecting and healing teammates while striking back at enemies. They are support-based class.
  • Striker: Strikers exploit Physical or Arts effects inflicted by other Operators to unleash the decisive attack. They are a DPS-based class.
  • Supporter: Supporters are skilled at applying various control effects that weaken the enemy. They buff and support their teammates.

A frequent mistake new players make is building a team with too many characters focused solely on dealing damage, and not enough on staying alive or controlling the battlefield. This strategy might be okay at the beginning of the game, but as enemies get stronger and start dealing a lot of damage quickly, a team lacking survivability and control will struggle.

Make sure to include some way to stay alive, like healing, a shield, or damage reduction. This will significantly improve your ability to withstand attacks and mean you won’t have to rely so much on precise timing or rapidly pressing buttons to avoid damage.

Making a team with elemental damage statuses in mind

It’s also important to consider what types of damage your team can deal. Some enemies are tough against certain attacks or strategies. A well-rounded team, capable of using a variety of damage types or switching up its approach, will avoid getting completely shut down. Teams that can handle different situations generally do better in exploring the world and progressing through the story than teams focused on just one thing.

Teamwork between characters is crucial – it’s just as important as how strong each character is on their own. Some characters are great at things like gathering enemies, slowing them down, or making them more vulnerable, which helps your main attackers deal a lot more damage. Focusing on how characters’ abilities work together, especially if they share the same element, leads to smoother, more reliable combat than simply picking the most powerful characters.

The free characters team is also great for building

Don’t overlook the characters you get for free at the start of the game! Endfield is built so that these characters can still be powerful if you use them well. Learning what each character can do and building a team that works together lets them compete with rarer, more powerful characters, particularly in the early and middle parts of the game. I especially like using an Ice team, with the free 5-star character Snowshine and the strong 6-star operator Last Rite, which you can get from the beginner event.

The game’s character collection system is complicated and doesn’t give you many chances to get what you want. Don’t expect to build a strong team just by relying on random pulls. Because there’s no way to save up your chances, and it takes a lot – 240 pulls – to guarantee a good character, it’s best to only pull when you have at least 120 chances saved up. Focus on using the free characters the game gives you instead.

Final Thoughts

Okay, so I’ve been playing Arknights: Endfield, and honestly, building a good team isn’t about just getting the strongest Operators. It’s about finding a balance – you need damage dealers, someone to keep everyone alive, ways to control the enemies, and the ability to switch things up when a situation gets tough. I’ve found that understanding how my Operators work together is way more important than just looking at their stats or how rare they are. As a Doctor, I already kinda knew this, but it really clicks when you’re actually building a team that can handle anything!
