Midjiwan is celebrating a decade of its popular strategy game, The Battle of Polytopia. Originally a small, heartfelt project, the game has now been downloaded millions of times, and the developers are planning to add even more gameplay options and features soon.
A small passion project to an award-winning title, The Battle of Polytopia has came a long way
The Battle of Polytopia is a turn-based strategy game where you build and manage a civilization. It first came out in February 2016 on iOS, created by Midjiwan and its founder, Felix Ekenstam, with just five different tribes and one way to play. Since then, the game has grown to include more tribes like the Cymanti, plus features like leaderboards, new game modes, weekly challenges, and customizable skins.
It’s great that this game might eventually be available on Android, PC, and Switch. It’s especially encouraging to see a game thrive, given how many games are shutting down after just a year or two, like TRIBE NINE and Atelier Resleriana. I’m really happy for the indie developers and excited to see them reach these achievements.
You can now grab the limited anniversary poster, new skin, and look forward to new game modes and features
To begin celebrating its 10th anniversary, Midjiwan has released a limited-edition, signed poster through its official store. They’ve also introduced the New Dawn skin for the Cymanti tribe on Switch, a skin that mobile players have already had access to.
Plus, they’re planning a new way to play and extra features later this year! And excitingly, they’re also creating a real-life card game based on The Battle of Polytopia. Keep an eye out for more news as they celebrate their 10th anniversary!
