Liam Gallagher hinted he might unexpectedly show up at the BRIT Awards, saying he’s looking forward to seeing familiar people there.
Noel Gallagher, brother of the Oasis singer, will be attending Saturday’s ceremony to accept the Songwriter of the Year award.
For weeks, fans have wondered if Liam will join his brother on stage. The brothers recently ended a long-running disagreement and are now touring together to huge success.
Liam seemed to dismiss the speculation earlier this week, telling fans he wasn’t attending because he doesn’t want to be around people from ITV, using a highly offensive term to describe them.
On Saturday, Liam seemed to confirm he would be in Manchester after responding to a fan account with the train schedule.
Liam previously commented that he had already arrived, driving up the night before, and was excited to see familiar people. He has since removed the comment.
Liam first deleted the post, but then appeared to change his mind. He responded to a fan’s question by asking if they were joking.
‘I am I’m not going to the awards I’m just in the area keeping an eye on things,’ Liam replied.
I was so thrilled to hear that Noel is going to be honored with a major award at the 2026 BRIT Awards! It was announced earlier this month, and it’s fantastic news – he truly deserves the recognition.
The 58-year-old singer-songwriter, who recently performed with Liam in a hugely popular Oasis reunion tour, is being hailed as a defining figure in British music. The band captivated the UK throughout the summer.
Noel is receiving the Songwriter of the Year award this year, and many other famous artists are expected to attend the awards ceremony.
Stacey Tang, who leads the 2026 BRIT Awards Committee and is a co-president at RCA Records, praised Noel, saying his music has shaped the last thirty years with songs that are both memorable and impactful.
His music has become the backdrop to countless memories and has come to represent the sound of British music around the world.
She added that recognizing Noel as Songwriter of the Year acknowledges his incredible musical achievements and his ongoing ability to inspire both artists and fans around the globe.
According to a source, the BRIT Awards are preparing a special video montage celebrating Noel Gallagher’s career before he receives his award.
The Daily Mail contacted Noel Gallagher’s representative for comment at the time.
The BRIT Awards are being held at Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena for the very first time tonight, marking the 46th year of the event.
After eliminating separate awards for male and female artists, the ceremony has received criticism for the small number of female nominees. This was especially noticeable in 2023, when all the nominees for Artist of the Year were men.
However, things will be different in 2026, as women and non-binary individuals will make up 70% of this year’s nominees.
I’m so thrilled to see Lola Young and Olivia Dean topping the nominations with five each! And honestly, it’s amazing to see Lily Allen back and getting so much recognition – three nominations for ‘West End Girl’ is absolutely deserved, everyone’s been raving about that album.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the buzz around this new album, and it’s incredibly raw and honest. The artist, who’s 40, really lays bare the details of her divorce from David Harbour, the ‘Stranger Things’ star. She doesn’t shy away from sharing the pain and, frankly, the alleged infidelity that contributed to the breakdown of their marriage. It’s a very personal and vulnerable record.
At the awards ceremony, she’s nominated for Artist of the Year alongside Young and Dean. She’s also in the running for Album of the Year and Pop Act.
Olivia, age 26, recently achieved a feat not seen in the UK since Adele in 2021: she topped both the singles and album charts in the same week. Her song “Man I Need” and album “The Art Of Loving,” both released in 2025, reached No. 1. She’s also up for five awards and will be performing at the ceremony.
For over a decade, the BRIT Awards have taken place each year at London’s O2 Arena. However, the Daily Mail reports that this year’s show, considered the most important event in British music, will be held in Manchester. Organizers are also planning to move the awards ceremony to different cities around the UK in the years to come.
Jack Whitehall is back to host the awards show for the sixth time. He’s hosted before in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2025.
Honestly, it broke my heart when he stepped down in 2022, and Mo Gilligan had to fill his shoes for a couple of shows. Then, in 2024, they tried something totally different with Maya Jama, Roman Kemp, and Clara Amfo all hosting together! It just wasn’t the same, you know? Nothing will ever be the same.
This will be Whitehall’s first performance in Manchester, a city that played a big role in developing his comedy style. He studied at The University of Manchester, which helped shape his early career.
