The Vampire Diaries favourite joins cast of popular returning period drama

I was so excited to hear that Paul Wesley, who I loved as a vampire who basically lived forever on The Vampire Diaries, is joining season three of The Buccaneers! It’s cool to see him taking on another time-traveling role, even if it’s a totally different kind of character this time around.

The Apple TV series, inspired by Edith Wharton’s incomplete novel, tells the story of American women venturing to London in the 1870s hoping to find husbands and improve their social standing.

According to Deadline, Wesley will star as Frank, a captivating and enigmatic newcomer who dramatically changes the lives of Nan and Mrs. St. George.

Photos appeared online earlier this week of the actor filming with Christina Hendricks, who was back playing her character, Patty St. George.

Apple TV announced on Friday that filming for the new season of The Buccaneers has begun. They shared a video of Paul Wesley on Instagram, officially welcoming him to the cast.

Season three follows the Buccaneers as they band together and take control of their destinies. The story picks up after their arrival in England, where they were each experiencing the challenges of first love.

The young women are now searching for their true loves, but things at Tintagel are complicated by the arrival of a mysterious new Duke. While everyone was surprised by the American girls, this new Duke is set to cause even more trouble.

Although he’s a key character introduced towards the end of season two, the actor to play Kit, known as the rebellious ‘bad-boy Duke,’ hasn’t been chosen yet. His appearance becomes possible because his half-brother, Theo, stepped down as the Duke of Tintagel.

There was talk that Kit might get the open role, and people noticed someone on horseback approaching the location. Because the photos only showed the person from behind, fans began speculating about who it was.

The Buccaneers streams on Apple TV.
