Fans of the musical ‘Wicked’ reportedly damaged property related to Brad Pitt’s Formula One movie, allegedly upset that the racing film was receiving more Oscar buzz than their favorite show’s adaptation.
Even though Wicked: For Good had been praised and nominated for other awards, it didn’t receive any nominations at the 2026 Academy Awards.
F1, on the other hand, received four Oscar nominations – including the top prize of Best Picture.
Fans on X were shocked and upset that the Academy chose to honor Formula 1 instead of the musical ‘Wicked: For Good,’ with some going so far as to call it a disaster.
The Daily Mail reached out to Brad Pitt’s representatives for a statement. Pitt not only acts in the film but also helped produce it.
‘How the F**K does F1 get nominated and Wicked: For Good does not!?’ one wrote.
People were surprised that the documentary F1 received a Best Picture nomination instead of the musical Wicked: For Good. One Twitter user expressed their disbelief, questioning why F1 was even considered for such a prestigious award.
‘I can’t believe F1 got nominated but not wicked???’ another mused. ‘Crazy work.’
‘F1 but no wicked? Are we serious?’ another posted.
Someone expressed surprise that the movie F1 received a Best Picture nomination instead of Wicked, suggesting Wicked only deserves recognition for its music.
One person dramatically commented that ‘Wicked’ not winning any awards, while ‘F1’ received multiple nominations, felt like a disaster.
As a huge fan, I was thrilled to see Wicked get so much recognition! For Good didn’t just resonate with audiences – it really caught the attention of awards shows too, earning nominations at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, which was fantastic to see.
This likely contributed to how noticeable their omission from the Oscar nominations was.
The Academy Awards nominations were revealed on Thursday, and Ryan Coogler’s film, ‘Sinners,’ has made history as a nominee.
The film earned a record 16 nominations, including the biggest prize of the night, Best Picture.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always keeping an eye on what’s trending in entertainment! I’m excited to share that one of the horror films I’ve been following is a contender for a major award! It’s up against nine other fantastic titles – ‘Bugonia’, ‘F1’, the classic ‘Frankenstein’, ‘Hamnet’, ‘Marty Supreme’, ‘One Battle After Another’, ‘The Secret Agent’, ‘Sentimental Value’, and ‘Train Dreams’. It’s a really strong lineup this year!
Jessie Buckley is expected to be a strong contender for Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet. She’ll be competing against notable actresses including Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I Would Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (Bugonia).
Fans were very upset when Ariana Grande wasn’t nominated for a supporting actress award for her role in Wicked. She had been nominated for her performance in the first Wicked movie last year.
The complete lack of nominations for Wicked: For Good was a major surprise, especially considering Cynthia Erivo, who stars alongside Ariana Grande, wasn’t nominated for Best Actress, and the film received no Best Picture nomination.
The movie was also overlooked for Best Original Song, even though new songs were created for it, such as Erivo’s “No Place Like Home” and Grande’s “The Girl In The Bubble.”
The nominees for Best Supporting Actress were Elle Fanning for her work in ‘Sentimental Value,’ Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Amy Madigan in ‘Weapons,’ Wunmi Mosaku for ‘Sinners,’ and Teyana Taylor in ‘One Battle After Another’.
Ariana Grande wasn’t nominated, and Gwyneth Paltrow was also overlooked for her role in Marty Supreme.
The nominees for Best Supporting Actor are Benicio del Toro for One Battle After Another, Jacob Elordi for Frankenstein, Delroy Lindo for Sinners, Sean Penn for One Battle After Another, and Stellan Skarsgard for Sentimental Value.
Many believe Paul Mescal’s performance in Hamnet, Adam Sandler’s in Jay Kelly, and Jesse Plemons’ in Bugonia deserved nominations but were overlooked.
This year’s nominees for Best Director include some of today’s most acclaimed filmmakers: Chloé Zhao for Hamnet, Josh Safdie for Marty Supreme, Paul Thomas Anderson for One Battle After Another, Joachim Trier for Sentimental Value, and Ryan Coogler for Sinners.
As a huge fan of casting and how it brings stories to life, I was so excited to hear about the new award for Best Casting this year! The first nominees are incredible: Nina Gold for her work on Hamnet, Jennifer Venditti for Marty Supreme, Cassandra Kulukundis for One Battle After Another, Gabriel Domingues for The Secret Agent, and the legendary Francine Maisler for Sinners. It’s fantastic to see casting finally getting the recognition it deserves!
The nominees for Best Animated Feature Film were Arco, Elio, KPop Demon Hunters, Little Amelie or the Character of Rain, and Zootopia 2.
