I was really shocked and saddened to see Suzanne Shaw’s video on Instagram. She was so upset, and bravely shared that she and Sam Greenfield had broken up. It sounded really tough for her – she described it as a completely unexpected and messy split, and she was understandably in tears while talking about it.

Hear’Say singer Suzanne Shaw, 44, announced she and her partner Sam separated in January and has been focusing on personal growth ever since.

Suzanne and Sam became engaged in 2014 and had a son, Rafferty, in 2015. She also has a 21-year-old son named Corey with her former partner, Darren Day.

Suzanne shared, with clear emotion, that she’s grateful to be able to cope with her breakup without alcohol, something she hasn’t been able to do in the past thanks to her six years of sobriety.

I haven’t been online much lately because I’ve been dealing with a breakup, which was really unexpected. It’s been a tough time, and I’ve just been focusing on getting through it.

Things have been really difficult lately, and I almost didn’t want to share anything online. But, my account is built around being open about my mental health journey – including overcoming alcohol, making positive lifestyle changes, and finding stability through things like running. So, I felt it was important to speak up.

Things have shifted and are now heading in a new direction. It’s been challenging, but I’m grateful I have the resources to manage it.

I’m so grateful I’ve been sober for six years, and that I’ve spent that time truly focused on growing as a person.

Things haven’t always been easy, and it’s been a bit chaotic, but I’ve been working on myself through therapy, meditation, and exercise like running. I’ve also realized how important it is to eat a healthy diet.

I’m realizing I need to fully embrace this difficult time, allow myself to heal, and see it as the start of a journey towards self-love. I’m entering a period where I’m prioritizing my own well-being and building a deeper connection with myself.

I needed to share this to be able to move forward and start a new chapter in my life.

I’ve been struggling to find the words since January, but now that it’s almost March, I’m finally ready to fully focus on healing and treating myself with the love and care I deserve – something I should have started a long time ago.

Suzanne asked her followers to understand and respect her privacy, explaining she won’t be sharing details about her split.

Oh my gosh, Suzanne? She was engaged to Darren! You know, the one from Celebrity Big Brother? He was everywhere – always at parties, and honestly, he had a reputation. I mean, before he became super famous, he was engaged to so many women! It’s crazy, but I read he was even engaged to Isla Fisher and Anna Friel before he met Suzanne. It’s just… fascinating to me!

In 2005, on Mother’s Day, Darren left his partner and their seven-week-old son, Corey, while she was struggling with postpartum depression. He reportedly said, ‘I don’t do family,’ as he left.

Last year, Suzanne shared on Vanessa Feltz’s show that her ex-partner simply left one day – he went out for a curry and never returned. She also mentioned that her subsequent experience with postnatal depression felt predictable, given the circumstances.

Darren became well-known for starting a relationship with the singer while they were both already committed to other partners.

Oh, it was so complicated! He ended up marrying Stephanie, which I was thrilled about, but then… heartbreak! They divorced in 2019. The worst part is, years before, he messed up with his ex, Suzanne, but Stephanie – bless her heart – actually took him back! It just shows how amazing she was, and then… it still didn’t last. I was devastated for her, truly.

Two years before her engagement to Sam, Suzanne was married to Heart FM presenter Jason King, 51.

She married the radio presenter in 2009 until their separation in 2012.
