Denise Richards was seen smiling outside the courthouse in Los Angeles as she continues to go through a difficult divorce with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Aaron Phypers.
55-year-old actor, known for his role in ‘Where the Wild Things Are,’ arrived at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse on Thursday wearing a striking all-black ensemble. His outfit included a tight-fitting long-sleeved shirt, a leather midi skirt, and matching peep-toe heels.
Accompanied by her lawyer and a large bodyguard, Richards attended the hearing carrying a leather clutch with metal studs and wearing large, cat-eye sunglasses.
Despite facing domestic violence charges (which he denies), Richards appeared cheerful even as his estranged wife, Phypers, continued to request financial support from him.
Richards’ husband, who she is separated from, arrived at the courthouse soon after her, and appeared serious.
Phypers was wearing a light blue shirt with the top two buttons open, and had a zip-up jacket and tweed coat over it.
He completed his court outfit with dark jeans and chunky, patent leather oxfords.
Richards and Phypers were married for almost seven years, but he filed for divorce in July 2025, stating they had differences that couldn’t be resolved.
Although they don’t have children together, Phypers had planned to adopt Richards’ youngest daughter, Eloise Joni Richards, back in 2019.
Richards first adopted Eloise in 2011. During their divorce, Richards stated that Phypers completed adoption paperwork in 2019, but Phypers countered that Richards never officially submitted the documents.
Denise Richards has two daughters: 21-year-old Sami Sheen and 20-year-old Lola Sheen, both from her relationship with actor Charlie Sheen.
The actress and the Two and a Half Men star were married for four years, from 2002 to 2005, and their divorce was finalized in 2006.
Richards and Phypers have been embroiled in a messy, public split since their 2025 divorce filing.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, in October, Phypers was accused of two felonies related to harming a spouse and two more for threatening someone to prevent them from being a witness. His bail was set at $200,000.
Last December, Phypers and his parents were evicted from the mansion he once shared with Richards.
After the court sided with the landlord and ordered the family to leave their home due to over $84,000 in unpaid rent, his parents created a now-removed online fundraiser seeking financial help.
Phypers had previously stated he deserved half of Richards’ earnings from OnlyFans. Richards, in turn, accused him of domestic abuse, which he denies.

Earlier this week, Phypers took legal action, asking the court to order Richards to provide financial support. He claims he’s facing financial hardship and is currently dealing with a criminal case.
According to court filings obtained by Page Six, Phypers is requesting financial support from his partner, stating his income became unstable after his business was negatively impacted in late 2024.
He argued he deserves temporary financial support from his spouse to maintain a fair financial situation while the legal case is ongoing.
According to reports, he also argued that his ongoing criminal and domestic violence case shouldn’t prevent him from receiving financial support from his spouse.
He argued the court should require his soon-to-be ex-wife to provide temporary financial support, even with his current legal troubles and the restraining order, because he hasn’t been found guilty of any crime yet.
