Crispin Glover denies model’s battery, fraud lawsuit as ‘meritless fabrication’

Actor Crispin Glover, known for his roles in films like “Back to the Future” and “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle,” is fighting a lawsuit alleging he assaulted and falsely reported to the police about a former model. She claims he held her captive and exploited her in a relationship.

A lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles claims actor Danny Glover, 61, convinced a former model, identified as Jane Doe, to move from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles to work as his assistant. The suit alleges Glover was controlling and physically attacked Doe in March 2024 when he tried to force her to leave his home. Doe is seeking an unspecified amount in damages, accusing Glover of battery, fraud, and illegally evicting her.

A spokesperson for Mr. Glover said on Thursday that he strongly denies the accusations, calling them untrue.

According to court records, Doe, a 30-year-old woman with autism, first connected with Glover on social media in 2015. Over the next several years, Glover repeatedly messaged her, encouraging her to travel to Los Angeles and allegedly made inappropriate advances. The complaint states that Glover and Doe met in person for the first time in 2023 in Dresden, Germany, where Glover displayed items from his collection of Nazi memorabilia.

As a film fan, I’ve been following this case with a heavy heart. Apparently, this actor initially dismissed some concerning behavior, but kept in touch with the plaintiff because he’d often talk about future collaborations in the industry. The lawsuit alleges things quickly turned manipulative. Over the course of 2023, he allegedly ‘groomed’ her, dangling the possibility of a Hollywood career. Then, in early 2024, he supposedly ‘lured’ her with promises of a place to live in Los Angeles and a job as his assistant. He’s accused of convincing her to stop paying rent on her place back in the UK and even encouraged her to sell or store her possessions so she could move to L.A., which is just awful.

Okay, so from what I’m reading, this woman, Doe, moved to LA and was totally dependent on Donald Glover. The lawsuit says she was basically at his mercy, completely relying on him for everything. Apparently, he kept tabs on where she was, decided who she could hang out with, and even tried to prevent her from leaving the house. It sounds like a really controlling situation, and she was incredibly isolated.

The lawsuit claims that on March 2, 2024, Glover locked Doe out of their home because she went to the mosque despite his objections. The suit states Glover attempted to force Doe out of the home with no prior notice or warning.

According to reports, Doe went back inside to get her cats because she was scared of Mr. Glover, who seemed very upset. At that point, Glover supposedly grabbed her by the neck and choked her. Doe suffered an injury and now has a scar on her neck as a result, and a photo of the injury is included in the official complaint.

According to the complaint, Glover not only called the police about the incident but also falsely told them Doe was an intruder. Glover also tried to get a restraining order against Doe, but the judge rejected it because Glover didn’t follow through with the case.

According to Glover’s lawyer, the actor was actually the one attacked in the March 2024 incident. They stated that Doe unexpectedly assaulted Glover, and this led to Doe’s arrest after the police responded and investigated.

Mr. Glover plans to strongly fight the claims against him and seek every possible legal remedy, his attorney stated. He believes the lawsuit is baseless and will be proven false in court.

I’ve been following this case, and it’s really upsetting. From what I understand, Doe claims the publicity around Glover getting a restraining order against her has seriously damaged what she’s built professionally and personally. What’s even worse is that she says Glover hasn’t stopped harassing her, and is still trying to force a sexual relationship on her. It’s just awful to see this continuing.

According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe remains homeless and is still dealing with the emotional trauma caused by her experiences with Mr. Glover.

In addition to other claims, Doe is filing a lawsuit for wrongful prosecution and the emotional harm it caused, and is requesting a trial by jury.

Christopher Glover is an actor and filmmaker best known for playing the father of Marty McFly in the “Back to the Future” movies. He’s also appeared in films like “River’s Edge,” “Wild at Heart,” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” as well as the TV series “American Gods.”
