After the excitement of season one of Heated Rivalry, we now have official news about when filming will begin for the next episodes, and a likely timeframe for when they’ll be released.
This popular Canadian series, inspired by Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novels, first appeared on Canada’s Crave before gaining international attention in late 2025. It recently became available in the UK on NOW and Sky.
In an interview on CBS Mornings today, February 26th, the creator of the show, Jacob Tierney, announced that they are currently writing the second season and plan to begin filming this summer. He promised fans more of the show will be available as soon as they can make it happen.

According to Variety, that hopefully means April 2027 for a release date.
Tierney believes the show’s success comes down to its romantic appeal. He feels it embodies all the qualities of a timeless love story.

After years of wanting to be together and struggling to make things work, they couldn’t quite find a way to be happy with each other.
He explained that the show’s strength lies in its tight focus on the central love story, without getting sidetracked by other plotlines.
The intense competition in “Heated Rivalry” has turned Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie into stars, as they play rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.
The planned summer 2026 filming schedule matches what Storrie recently shared on another American morning show.
In an interview with TODAY, he mentioned that Jacob is still working on the script for season two. He believes filming will start “soon,” though he wasn’t able to give a specific date.

When Craig Melvin asked if “soon” meant this summer, Storrie smiled and agreed, saying, “Yeah, around that time, I think.”
Season one is currently enjoying a very high 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The New Statesman praised it as a fun, uncomplicated show, playfully asking, “What’s better than one attractive man? Two!”
The Evening Standard gave the work a glowing review, calling it a delightfully uninhibited and explicitly sexual story with a satisfying conclusion. They highlighted its focus on gay relationships and joyful tone.
The Financial Times praised the show as energetic and exciting, saying it’s “fun and never boring.”
Heated Rivalry is now streaming on NOW in the UK.
