Emma Stone will star in and reunite with her husband, Dave McCary, for a new romantic comedy called ‘The Catch,’ produced by Universal Pictures. It’s expected to be her next movie project.
According to Deadline, 37-year-old actress and Squarespace spokesperson, searched for a leading man, considering several actors. Chris Pine ultimately won the role after a series of meetings.
It could be a little strange for the SNL crew member, who’s around 40, to direct romantic scenes between Stone and the 45-year-old Star Trek actor, but they’ve actually been married for six years.
On March 13th, the Academy Award-winning actress and her partner will celebrate their daughter Louise Jean turning five years old.
Emma Stone and Dave McCary, a couple since meeting on Saturday Night Live in 2016, started their production company, Fruit Tree, with Ali Herting in 2020.
I’m so excited about this new movie! The script is written by Patrick Kang and Michael Levin, the team behind ‘The Paper,’ and it’s fantastic. Plus, Shawn Levy, who’s done amazing work on ‘Stranger Things,’ is producing, so I have really high hopes for it!
McCary’s new film, The Catch, will be his second feature as a director. He previously directed the 2017 comedy-drama Brigsby Bear, which received excellent reviews but didn’t perform well in theaters, earning just over $680,000. You can now watch Brigsby Bear on Netflix.
This follows years of Emma Stone appearing in critically acclaimed, dramatic roles often aimed at Oscar consideration, such as her part as pharmaceutical CEO Michelle Fuller in Yorgos Lanthimos’s $55 million thriller, Bugonia, which unfortunately didn’t perform well at the box office, earning only $42.3 million.
Like Sigourney Weaver, Demi Moore, and Natalie Portman before her, the actress, originally from Arizona, dramatically shaved her head for her role as a tough and distrustful character – all while the cameras were rolling.
Emma Stone is up for two Oscars at the 98th Academy Awards on March 15th, airing on ABC and Hulu: Best Actress and Best Picture.
The Eddington star has been nominated for best actress at this Sunday’s Actor Awards, which will be streamed on Netflix.
Emma Stone faces a tough challenge, as Jessie Buckley, who played Hamnet, is currently enjoying a remarkable run of success, having recently won the Critics’ Choice Award, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA.
Before that, the Louis Vuitton ambassador is up for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer at the 37th Producers Guild Awards this Saturday in Los Angeles at the Fairmont Century Plaza.
Emma Stone began her career with a string of popular comedies, including films like Superbad, The Rocker, The House Bunny, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Zombieland, Easy A, Friends with Benefits, and Crazy Stupid Love.
The award-winning actress is working on a film starring Jennifer Lawrence as Miss Piggy, and she’s also producing a new musical comedy starring Jesse Eisenberg for A24.
