Hayden Panettiere’s memoir is almost here and she’s not holding anything back.
Country singer and actress, 36, revealed the cover of her upcoming memoir, This Is Me, on Instagram on January 22nd. The book is scheduled to come out this spring.
The book cover features Panettiere with a sharp, blonde haircut and a piercing gaze that seems capable of intimidating anyone.
She playfully wrote in the caption, ‘Some stories are uniquely yours to share,’ and she meant it. Everyone has experiences that only they can truly describe.
The actress began her career as a young star on the soap opera One Life to Live and gained recognition in films like Remember the Titans as a teenager. After transitioning into more mature roles in Heroes and Nashville, she faced a challenging time in her personal life.
Hayden Panettiere has been open about her challenges in recent years, including battling addiction and postpartum depression. She also faced immense grief with the unexpected loss of her brother, Jansen, in 2023, following a period where she’d already shared her need to step away from acting.
Okay, so I’ve been tracking this forever, and it’s FINALLY happening! The book comes out May 12th – Grand Central Publishing is putting it out, which is part of Hachette, if you didn’t know – and People magazine says the story is about a young star who just couldn’t handle everything Hollywood threw at her. Honestly, it sounds amazing and totally heartbreaking. I’m already counting down the days!
With the media constantly watching for celebrities to falter, many predicted this young actress wouldn’t be able to handle the pressure – and unfortunately, they were right, according to the story’s summary.
Panettiere describes that she was drawn to roles that ‘mirrored her real-life trauma.’
She’s portrayed a variety of characters – an unlikely hero, a famous celebrity, someone who overcame hardship, a bubbly cheerleader, and a classic all-American girl. But in her new project, ‘This Is Me,’ Hayden takes on her most emotional and memorable role yet: playing herself.
In 2024, the actress announced she was writing a memoir, currently called Scream and Break Free: Addiction, Trauma, and How the Cheerleader Saved Herself.
Panettiere said she hoped the project would be emotionally resonant – maybe even make people laugh or cry – but ultimately leave them feeling motivated and uplifted, as she told People magazine.
I’ve learned a lot through my experiences, and I hope sharing more about my journey can offer some support to others who have gone through similar things.
‘I’m truly grateful for every lesson, and for the woman I have become today,’ she added.
Hayden Panettiere recently told Us Weekly how stepping away from acting for four years greatly improved her health and happiness.
The actress explained she unexpectedly took four years away from work, admitting she really needed the break. She was speaking after raising concerns with her speech in an interview last year, and following a difficult period in her personal life, including her relationship with her former partner, Brian Hickerson.
Hayden told the publication that he feels more stable and connected to reality, despite the chaotic nature of the world around us.
The actress returned to acting in Scream VI, released in 2023, where she once again played the character Kirby Reed.
Recently, actress Hayden Panettiere has openly shared her battles with addiction. As a result, her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, has been living in Ukraine with Panettiere’s ex-fiancé, boxer Wladimir Klitschko, who is 49.
