Comedian Jenny Eclair shared a happy selfie with her daughter Phoebe on Instagram after a difficult week spent in the hospital. Both mother and daughter were smiling in the photo.
Thirty-six-year-old Phoebe and her 65-year-old comedian mother looked strikingly alike as they smiled for a picture in the park on a sunny day.
The mother and daughter both have short blonde hair and wear glasses. They finished their look with a bold red lipstick.
They celebrated Phoebe’s birthday with a relaxing time in the park, enjoying the company of her son Arlo after he’d been recovering in the hospital.
It was so lovely to get out and celebrate Phoebe’s birthday! She’s such a bright and beautiful girl, and after a scary weekend with her brother in the hospital, a bit of fresh air in the park with family and friends – including Arlo and his pals – was exactly what we all needed. It really lifted everyone’s spirits.
‘Spring felt very close today and we all felt the better for it – sunshine on the Rye’.
Jenny didn’t share any further details about her grandson Arlo’s upsetting hospital visit, but many of her friends sent their well wishes.
This follows Jenny’s previous statement that she actually found being a grandmother less challenging than raising her own children.
Speaking on Kaye Adams’s How To Be 60 podcast, she said: ‘Children can be quite boring’.
Now in her sixties, she finds greater joy in everyday moments than she did when she was at the height of her career as a celebrated comedian and author.
‘Maybe it’s because I’ve slowed down,’ she added.
Jenny shared that she and her husband, Geof, care for Arlo every Tuesday. She added, ‘We have him each Tuesday, and honestly, I think one day a week is plenty.’
I bring my son to singing lessons, but he noticeably distances himself from me whenever I begin to sing, because he’s aware I’m not a good singer.
She went on to explain that Geof loves watching television, specifically cartoons meant for very young children, which she finds a little strange. She has to double-check that her son, Arlo, is actually home and not just being watched by Geof for his own entertainment.
Jenny was deeply upset and shocked after a painful injury occurred on the This Morning set right before she was scheduled to appear on live television last year.
The comedian was a guest on the ITV show, where she spoke with hosts Rylan Clark and Josie Gibson about her new stand-up show, Jokes Jokes Jokes Live!
I was watching the interview, and right away Rylan playfully mentioned she’d really messed up – had a bit of a disaster, really! She totally agreed, but thankfully she was a good sport and could laugh about it, which was great to see.
Jenny said: ‘I am in deep shock!’
Rylan said, ‘I remember you coming in this morning wearing my tracksuit, and paramedics were actually helping you inside!’
“They were carrying me,” Jenny explained. “It was an elderly woman, and I’m really annoyed at myself. I’d just gotten a new flask as a free gift with a car I purchased…”
I usually only drink vodka when I’m traveling, and I never drive myself on tour. Just to be clear, I always have a driver and a manager who handle the driving for me.
I brought a small amount of vodka to have after the show, mixing it with tonic water in my flask.
I decided to grab some coffee since I was traveling across London to get here. This part of town feels like the opposite side of the city from where I started.
I realized I wasn’t sure how to use the facial steamer. I accidentally aimed it at my face, like some women do when they shave or pluck their facial hair.
‘I felt weepy and shocked, yeah I was shaking.’
A confused Josie asked: ‘Have you got a vodka rash Jenny?’
Jenny said: ‘No I haven’t. It was coffee!’
She also reflected on her successful career during the interview.
‘I’ve had a right laugh,’ Jenny confessed. ‘When I look back now, it’s been 45 years.’
Rylan replied: ‘Long may it continue!’ She said: ‘Well I’ve got no choice. I’m unemployable!’
