Jessie Buckley debuted a striking new blonde hairstyle for a recent W Magazine photoshoot. The shoot was directed by Chloe Zhao, who also directed Buckley in the film Hamnet.
Thirty-six-year-old Irish actress, won the Best Actress award at the BAFTAs on Sunday for her performance as Agnes in the historical drama.
For the photoshoot, Jessie unveiled a fresh hairstyle – longer, blonde curls – and captivated the camera with a focused gaze.
Reflecting on her role in Hamnet, Jessie admitted it has made her ‘braver in her life’.
She spoke highly of her director, explaining that Chloé is incredibly attuned to how people physically react to the work. Chloé consistently aims to reduce everything to its most basic, fundamental emotional connection between everyone involved.
Seeing what Agnes went through – facing something completely overwhelming and enduring it with courage – has actually inspired me to be more courageous in my own life.
Jessie struck a glamorous pose, lounging back on the bench with her hair flowing around her. She wore a striking white dress with a low neckline.
She quickly changed into a flowing golden dress and playfully ran around the set, beaming with a smile.
The actress became the first Irish performer to win a BAFTA and movingly dedicated the award to her daughter, fighting back tears during her acceptance speech on Sunday.
With her voice trembling, Jessie explained she wanted to share this experience with her daughter, who had been traveling with her since she was just six weeks old.
Being your mom is the greatest joy of my life, and I promise to keep challenging expectations so you can fully embrace who you are – your unique, passionate, and wonderfully complex self.
Just before the room filled with applause, she said, ‘I’m truly grateful for this, thank you all.’
Jessie and her husband, film producer Freddie Sorensen, had a daughter six months ago, but they haven’t shared her name with the public yet.
Jessie was up for a major award with several other talented actresses and actors, including Renate Reinsve (for Sentimental Value), Rose Byrne (for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (for Song Sung Blue), Chase Infiniti (for One Battle After Another), and Emma Stone (for Bugonia).
She wore a bright blue dress with black heels and smiled widely when she received the award.
In her acceptance speech, the actress expressed how honored she was, saying she never imagined as a child that she’d have the opportunity to make movies, but here she is, living that dream.
I met with my agent, Lindy King, in London, looking quite a mess – I had a terrible fake tan, large white hoop earrings, and a red polka dot skirt and top. Despite my appearance, I actually told her I hoped to become an actress like Judi Dench.
I honestly have no idea how she thought that could happen. This achievement truly belongs to the women who have inspired and guided me, showing me better ways to approach things.
While thanking her fellow nominees, Jessie accidentally left out Kate Hudson and had to ask the audience if she’d forgotten anyone. She finished by saying how impressed she was with everyone’s amazing work and expressed her gratitude.
