Prue Leith, 86, reveals she ‘didn’t lose a single pound’ from weight-loss jabs after husband John Playfair dropped three stone on Mounjaro: ‘It’s a waste of money!’

Prue Leith says weight-loss injections aren’t worth the cost, as she didn’t lose any weight during the month she tried them.

The 86-year-old host of The Great British Bake Off, who said she was leaving the show in January, revealed she decided to try the weight loss drug after her husband, John Playfair, 71, lost three stone while using Mounjaro.

Tirzepatide is a medication available only with a prescription, and it’s used to help people lose weight and manage Type 2 diabetes.

Prue admitted to the Press Association that her attempt at something didn’t work because she hadn’t bothered to read the instructions. She realized she was only consuming around 200 calories daily without realizing it.

Your body reacted as if it were starving, so it held onto everything it could. Despite eating very little for two weeks, I didn’t lose any weight at all.

I probably won’t use it. It’s really expensive, and I don’t want to waste my money if it doesn’t even work.

Prue Leith, who spent nine years tasting delicious creations on Bake Off, shared that she surprisingly didn’t gain any weight during her time on the show.

She explained that cake and wine are a perfect pairing, though she admitted it’s definitely not a healthy diet! It worked for her personally, as it was only a short-term thing – just ten weeks, with only two days each week dedicated to eating only cake and wine. That meant for twenty days total, that was all she consumed.

I truly enjoyed what I was doing and could have continued indefinitely. While I’ll definitely miss it, I’m facing time constraints now.

Nigella Lawson has confirmed she will be a judge on the show, joining Paul Hollywood when filming for the new season starts in April.

Prue shared her thoughts on the new judge, saying Nigella will be fantastic. She expects Nigella to bring a different style to the show, but believes she’s a true professional who knows her stuff.

Prue has chosen to retire so she can travel through Europe. While she enjoyed her work and would miss it, she feels it’s time to prioritize seeing the world.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe what I just read! Apparently, the amazing chef who stepped in for Mary Berry back in 2017 – can you even imagine?! – actually talked about why Mary left the show way back when. She spilled all the details in an interview with The Spectator, and I’m absolutely dying to know everything!

She said: ‘I have been dithering for years about when to stop judging The Great British Bake Off.

When I started nine years ago, I was in my mid-seventies and honestly expected to only last a couple of years.

When my mother was that age, her mind was playing tricks on her. She was very hard of hearing and often confused, thinking I was her father and that her cat was a pet from her distant past.

I remained fairly stable and still enjoyed my work, so I didn’t see any reason to quit.

I’ve been a huge fan of Bake Off for years, and honestly, I reached a point where I just wanted a bit more life outside of work. It always struck me as ironic – all those cozy baking scenes are filmed during the summer! That meant anyone involved, including the crew, couldn’t really have a summer holiday, and it really started to bother me. I just wished they could enjoy the warmer months too!

Prue said a trip to Madagascar made her realize it was time for a change.

She realized that continuing with Bake Off meant she’d have to give up her dream of taking holidays – anywhere from the south of France and Italy to Spain, Cornwall, or even Scotland.
