Lisa Rinna finally addresses rumors husband Harry Hamlin is gay with defiant two-word response

Lisa Rinna is firmly denying long-standing rumors about her husband, Harry Hamlin‘s, sexuality. The rumors originally surfaced decades ago, fueled by a film he appeared in.

Now 74 years old, Hamlin was a promising actor known for his handsome looks when he took on the role of Bart McGuire in the 1982 film Making Love. The movie centers on a man who has an affair with a married doctor (played by Michael Ontkean), and features Kate Jackson, formerly of Charlie’s Angels, as his wife.

The film is considered trailblazing however led to questions about Hamlin’s sexuality. 

Lisa Rinna, 62, is finally addressing the rumors that have swirled around her in her new memoir, titled ‘You Better Believe I’m Gonna Talk About It.’

Just to be absolutely clear, Harry is straight,” Rinna stated. She’s been married to Hamlin since 1997 and they have two daughters together. She added that even if he were gay, there would be nothing wrong with that.

She didn’t find out about the gossip until she started filming Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. ‘I always assumed people would say anything to bother me, so I didn’t worry about it,’ she explained. ‘My usual response was just, ‘What’s your problem?’

Rinna wrote that ‘every husband’s sexuality was questioned at some point on that show.’

She explained that in Hollywood, if a man is attractive and well-dressed, people often assume he’s gay.

Hamlin’s sexuality faced scrutiny following the release of Making Love, Rinna said. 

‘Mainstream films about gay men are still rare today, but back then it was unheard of,’ she said. 

But the movie was apparently detrimental to Hamlin’s acting career.

Rinna said Hamlin faced difficulty finding work in Hollywood for several years and didn’t land a significant role with a major studio until decades later.

Rinna is clearly very proud of her husband for being in the movie, which she has called groundbreaking in the past.

Lisa Rinna publicly celebrated her husband after he landed a significant film role – playing Jane Fonda’s love interest in the 2023 movie 80 For Brady.
