MCU’s Batwoman Photo From Guardians Vol. 3 Shared by James Gunn

James Gunn recently reminisced about his work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a post on Threads. He shared a photo of a pointy-eared character from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and playfully called it ‘Batwoman,’ a nod to the well-known DC Comics superhero.

James Gunn shows ‘a different kind of Batwoman’ in Marvel

So, James Gunn just dropped a curious image on Threads. It’s a photo of an alien – a really quirky one, actually. Think pointy bat ears, short black hair, and this adorably strange outfit: a white sweater covered in all sorts of pink and blue polka dots and shapes. He’s even casually sitting at a dining table, which is…unexpected. It definitely makes you wonder what role this character will play in his upcoming Superman film. It’s a playful little tease, and honestly, I’m intrigued!

“A different kind of Batwoman from Guardians Vol 3.,” James Gunn captioned the post.

Neelie, portrayed by Darla Delgado, is a character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. She’s a vampire bat who, along with her husband Till, was kidnapped from Earth by the High Evolutionary. He experimented on them, trying to force their evolution as part of a group called Batch 92, and eventually placed them on his artificial planet, Counter-Earth.

Not long after, the Guardians of the Galaxy went to Neelie’s house, hoping to find out about the Mowtios. Even though they couldn’t easily communicate, Neelie was able to help by sketching the Mowtios and pointing the Guardians toward Arête Laboratories. Star-Lord thanked her, then borrowed Neelie’s car to go to the labs—and unfortunately crashed it.

It’s worth noting that Gunn wasn’t the only one calling Delgado’s character “Batwoman.” The actress herself playfully used the nickname in an Instagram post announcing the digital release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, calling her character “NEELIE the bat woman!”

You can now watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on Disney+. This is also the last Guardians film James Gunn directed for Marvel, as he’s moving on to work exclusively with DC Comics.

The movie stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, Will Poulter, Sean Gunn, Chukwudi Iwuji, and a number of other talented actors.
