A young singer who competed on The Voice Kids in Colombia was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident. Another man also died in the crash, and police are still looking for the driver who left the scene.
Nicole Valeria Vargas Gomez, a singer who became known on the show La Voz Kids in 2019, passed away at the young age of 19.
The crash took place on the Circasia–Armenia road in Quindío, Colombia.
William Andrew Paipa, 40, was also killed in the collision.
Police say Vargas Gomez and Paipa were hit by a car while they were crossing the street. The vehicle involved has not been identified.
The crash was so strong it launched both people into the air, landing them on the other side of the road.
Police confirmed that the driver allegedly did not stop to help and instead fled the scene.
Investigators are now working to identify and locate the vehicle involved in the fatal crash.
Police have reported a traffic accident at El Solar where a vehicle hit two pedestrians who were crossing the road near the restaurant area, according to a statement obtained by Unilad.
We have identified the individuals as William Andres Paipa and Nicole Valeria Vargas Gomez.
Vargas Gomez became well-known at just 12 years old after competing on La Voz Kids. Even though she didn’t make it to the finals, she gained a dedicated following.
She continued performing in the years that followed, appearing at festivals across Colombia.
Besides being a musician, Vargas Gomez was a student at the University of Quindío, where she studied Business Administration. The university issued a statement honoring her life and the positive influence she had.
The university stated that Nicole was a dedicated student deeply involved in campus life and academics.
She made a lasting impact both as a student and performer, known for her dedication, empathy, and passion for art.
She proudly represented the University of Quindio at every Coranto meeting and performance.
The team at INS, including Rector Luis Fernando Polanía and the Directorate of Wellbeing, shared news of the passing of Nicole Valeria Vargas Gómez. They expressed deep sadness and offered prayers for her soul.

Police are still investigating and working to find the driver involved in the incident.
This follows the recent death of Ifunanya Nwangene, a 26-year-old singer who was on The Voice Nigeria, who tragically died after being bitten by a snake.
A soprano singer from Enugu, who also worked as an architect, was bitten by a venomous snake at her home in Abuja, according to BBC Africa.
Nwangene became known in April 2021 after a video of her singing Rihanna’s “Take A Bow” gained popularity online, reaching over 85,000 views on YouTube by Sunday evening.
According to BBC Africa, Nwangene was part of the Amemuso Choir. The choir’s director, Sam Ezugwu, announced the sad news on Facebook on Sunday.

The Amemuso Choir expressed their sadness over the loss of Ifunanya, noting she was about to share her remarkable gift with everyone, and that they will greatly miss her voice and energy.
