The launch of Pokémon Legends Z-A was a bit unusual. The Mega Dimension DLC was released very close to the game itself, and it didn’t receive as much attention or promotion as other downloadable content expansions have lately.
Lots of free in-game events have been happening, and a recent update is now available. With Pokémon Legends Z-A updated to version 2.0.1, players should have a smoother experience.

There Are A few Upgrades
Okay, so if you’re like me and have been playing Pokémon Legends Z-A, you’ll be happy to hear they just released a free update for everyone – even those of us on the original Switch! Here’s everything that’s been changed and improved, according to the official patch notes:
Latest update: Ver. 2.0.1
Adjustments Applied for Obtaining Items:
- When purchasing Berries from a food stall, you can now purchase multiple Berries at once.
- After beginning the story of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC, you will be able purchase Berries from the clerk at Nouveau Café’s Truck No. 3.
- The maximum number of Mega Shards you can carry has been increased from 999 to 9,999.
We’ve addressed several confirmed problems with the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension content. Here’s a list of the fixes we’ve implemented.
- When using moves in certain pockets of hyperspace, Pokémon may sometimes have faced a different direction from the intended target.
- There were cases in which the weather remained sunny and did not change.
- Shiny Pokémon obtained prior to the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension may not have been registered to the Mega Evolution Pokédex, even if their Mega Stones were obtained after becoming available in the DLC.
- During missions, images from unrelated scenes may occasionally have been displayed.
- Players may not have been able to complete side mission 188 “Start Special Scanning!” even after earning the maximum number of survey points. (Players who are already experiencing this issue should be able to progress after entering and exiting hyperspace.)
Okay, as a fan, I’m really excited about these changes! The biggest thing for me is that they’re letting us carry way more Mega Shards. Seriously, needing to constantly go back and spend them because you hit the 999 limit was a real pain, especially with how many the new DLC areas give you. It’s a huge quality of life improvement! Plus, it’s now easier to get berries too, which is awesome.
Okay, so if you bought the DLC, you’ll find a few extra ways to upgrade your stuff. They also squashed a bunch of bugs, including one that was totally blocking progress on a side quest – thankfully, that’s fixed! And for all you Pokémon trainers out there, they’ve also fixed a weird issue where the weather would always stay sunny, which was messing with some Pokémon that need different conditions. Big relief!
Is This The End Of Pokémon Legends Z-A?
Hopefully Not, There’s More Work To Be Done
Honestly, a lot of us Pokémon fans aren’t expecting Pokémon Legends: Z-A to be a massive game-changer. It feels like Nintendo and Game Freak rushed out the DLC and didn’t really go the extra mile, which is a little disappointing. We’re hoping it’s good, but the feeling isn’t super strong right now.
We might get more information about Pokémon Legends Z-A later – it definitely needs to connect with Pokémon Home, for example – but development seems to be slowing down. A few improvements to make the game easier to use would still be welcome.
