Colin Egglesfield has shared some uplifting news nearly a year after his third cancer diagnosis.
In January 2025, 52-year-old actor, best known for his role in All My Children, shared that he was fighting prostate cancer. This came after previously overcoming testicular cancer twice.
In an interview with E! News on Wednesday, Egglesfield shared that he is now cancer-free and doing well.
He said he was thankful to have gotten through it and was now looking forward to the future.
He shared that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in late 2024 and had surgery soon after.
Nearly a year later, Egglesfield says his health has fully recovered.
He mentioned it will be a year in February since his diagnosis, and he was relieved it was detected early enough to avoid needing radiation or chemotherapy, something he was hoping to prevent.
The actor, known for his role in ‘The Client List,’ shared that his experience with cancer has been challenging. He remembered being first diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2006, and then facing a recurrence in 2007.
‘I waited almost until it was too late and it had started to spread,’ Colin explained.
After my surgery, the tests on my lymph nodes showed the cancer had spread, which was really tough news. That meant I needed radiation treatment, and honestly, after everything I’d already been through, I just didn’t want to deal with any more treatments. It was a difficult time, and I was exhausted from the whole process.
The acknowledged that recovery has had its challenges but said he is hopeful for the future.
Colin described his recovery as challenging, mentioning he’s had to relearn basic functions like using the bathroom and has experienced difficulties with erectile function. However, he expressed immense gratitude knowing these issues are likely behind him and he can look forward to the future.
Egglesfield is now dedicating his time to work he truly enjoys, like his motivational speaking. He uses his background as a performer to help people become more confident.
Colin emphasizes living in the present moment, because tomorrow isn’t promised.
He went on to say that many people are taught to seek happiness and meaning from external sources.
What I’ve realized is that true contentment comes from taking time for self-reflection, practicing gratitude, and facing challenges head-on. If I’m ever unhappy or unfulfilled, I’m committed to making the changes necessary to find happiness.
In 2006, shortly after landing the role of Joshua Madden on All My Children, Egglesfield received a cancer diagnosis, marking the start of his battle with the disease.
After successfully removing a tumor with surgery, he unfortunately received a second cancer diagnosis – testicular cancer – a year later.
In a 2019 interview with Fox News, Egglesfield shared that he hadn’t often discussed his struggles, explaining it was a very personal topic that many men find difficult to talk about, and for a long time, he didn’t want to discuss it at all.
He remembered first noticing swelling in his left testicle, which prompted him to see a doctor. The doctor ordered tests, including an ultrasound and a blood test, to investigate.
He explained that the cancer was quite far along when they operated. During surgery, they unfortunately found that some cancer cells had spread through the bloodstream to the kidneys.
He later wrote a book called Agile Artist: Life Lessons From Hollywood And Beyond, where he shared what he learned from his experiences.
He shared with Fox News in 2019 that it had been thirteen years since his cancer diagnosis and he was now healthy. He explained he felt ready to write about his experience and document it for others.
Throughout her career, Egglesfield has acted in many shows and films in addition to All My Children. These include The Client List, a reboot of Melrose Place, several episodes of Rizzoli & Isles, and the 2023 movie A Rose For Her Grave: The Randy Roth Story.
