I was so excited to hear that Winona Ryder, who I love from Stranger Things, is going to be in season three of Wednesday! Netflix also gave us a little update on when they’re starting to film, which is great news for fans like me.
Netflix has announced that a new season of its hit show is currently being filmed in Ireland. The first season, which premiered in 2022, remains the streaming service’s most popular English-language TV series ever.

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar expressed their excitement about starting production on the third season, playfully describing it as a ‘dark delight’ to reopen the doors of Nevermore Academy.
We’re incredibly grateful to our dedicated cast and crew for their hard work, even with such dark subject matter. And to our fans, thank you for your patience and enthusiastic online discussions – your imaginative and often unsettling theories have truly fueled our creativity.

This season, we’re excited to welcome both new students and teachers, and we’ll be uncovering some long-held secrets of the Addams Family. Consider yourself warned!
If you’re curious about who we’re calling “new,” we’re thrilled to announce a fantastic group of new cast members joining us for season three.
In addition to Winona Ryder, several new actors are joining the cast of Wednesday. These include Chris Sarandon, known for The Princess Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas; Noah Taylor, who has appeared in Peaky Blinders and Game of Thrones; Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms); and Kennedy Moyer (Task).
Eva Green, who recently joined the cast, will play Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister. The actor expressed her excitement about becoming part of the delightfully dark universe of Wednesday when the news was first announced.
Green described the show as delightfully dark and funny, and expressed excitement about bringing a unique and quirky energy to the role of an Addams family member.
Gough and Millar shared with Tudum that Eva Green consistently delivers a captivating and unique performance, bringing a blend of grace, mystery, and delightful unpredictability to her roles.
She’s a natural fit for Aunt Ophelia, and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the character and how she develops Wednesday’s story.
Jenna Ortega will reprise her role as Wednesday Addams. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán are also confirmed to return as Morticia and Gomez Addams, respectively.

Winona Ryder was a popular star throughout the five seasons of Stranger Things, which ran for nearly ten years on the streaming service before ending with a memorable, though controversial, final season.
Fans will be thrilled to see Winona Ryder return to Netflix in Wednesday, continuing her working relationship with director and producer Tim Burton. Details about her new role are still under wraps, though.
Winona Ryder has appeared in several films directed by Tim Burton, including his 1988 hit Beetlejuice, the 1990 classic Edward Scissorhands, the 2012 animated feature Frankenweenie, and the 2024 sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Wednesday updates!
