Stranger Things’ star mocks his own viral “weird running” videos

Charlie Heaton, known for his role in Stranger Things, has playfully responded to online videos joking about his character Jonathan Byers’ unusual running style. The videos highlight how Byers comically runs with a sideways lean in certain moments of the Netflix show.

During an interview on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon asked the actor about the videos, pressing him on whether he was aware of them.

“How could I not hear about this?” Heaton responded.

When asked if he’d chosen a specific running route, the actor playfully responded, “Yes, it was a deliberate choice for the character… I just don’t run that way normally.”

Heaton then proceeded to recreate the run with Fallon live on set, to cheers from the audience.

I was so sad to see Stranger Things finish after five seasons, but it finally wrapped up over the New Year! And thankfully, Netflix just released a behind-the-scenes documentary about how they made the final season, which is awesome.

Although the film features many of the show’s younger cast members, David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, and Winona Ryder, who plays Joyce Byers, do not appear in it.

Director Martina Radwan explained to Variety that scheduling conflicts prevented them from including certain actors. She said they were simply too busy with other commitments to meet and discuss potential involvement. “We really tried to make it work with David and Winona, but we just couldn’t find the time,” she stated.

Honestly, filming the cast saying goodbye was really tough. There were just so many goodbyes, and it was super emotional for everyone involved. It hit me hard, seeing them all wrap things up.

Everyone involved is facing a significant ending – for some, it’s like losing half their career, for others, a quarter. And for the Duffer brothers, this marks the end of their work on Stranger Things – they won’t be able to revisit that world again. It was crucial to me that all the storylines felt properly concluded and connected.

The Duffer brothers, Matt and Ross, insisted on having the final scene. I originally envisioned just one farewell moment, rather than spreading out the goodbyes. I felt it was important to show a unified goodbye for everyone involved, including the entire cast and crew, as they all shared this experience together.

Stranger Things seasons 1-5 are streaming on Netflix.
