The streamer famous for completing Elden Ring with just her mind is attempting a new challenge. Instead of controlling a game character, she’s now using her mental abilities to influence the movements of a real person.
From Mind-Controlled Elden Ring To Real-World Balance Experiments
Gamers are always finding unique ways to play, from using flutes for Warzone to Nintendo Switch controllers for Valorant. But content creator PerriKaryal recently took things to the extreme. She completed Elden Ring, including its challenging DLC Nightreign, using only her mind as a controller.
Recently, she took her experiments even further by creating a device that could affect her balance. This essentially meant someone using a controller could subtly influence her movements. She shared videos of her first tests on Instagram and TikTok, showing herself trying to walk straight. When the person operating an Xbox controller moved the joystick, she clearly stumbled in that direction.
This is achieved using a method called galvanic vestibular stimulation. It works by sending a signal through an electrode positioned behind the eye, which then impacts the person’s sense of balance.
After successfully demonstrating the method, she decided to combine it with gaming. As she put it:
“Naturally, my first thought was man, I wanna play Trackmania with this.”
Trackmania is a fast-paced racing game known for its sharp turns and quick changes in direction, making it ideal for this particular test. The experiment succeeded, but the participant experienced some side effects. She was able to feel the forces of the game in real life, but afterward suffered from headaches and saw flashing lights.
Following the experiment, she strongly discouraged viewers from attempting to replicate it at home:
“Don’t do this. Don’t build this. Don’t make this. I do not approve of anyone making this themselves. I don’t condone that behaviour. It’s incredibly dangerous, and I’m not liable.”
While it might seem appealing, the potential dangers don’t really justify it. If you’re looking for a fun hobby, perhaps consider something safer, like learning the flute.
