Okay, so the Genshin Impact 6.4 update is dropping on February 25th, 2026, and the first set of banners will be up until March 17th, 2026. We’re getting one totally new character to play as, plus a character that’s coming back for a rerun – they’ll both be on one banner. And of course, the usual Chronicle Banner will be there too!

We’ll analyze each character’s abilities and advantages as the game evolves, and let you know which ones are best to focus on obtaining from the standard and Chronicle banners.

Who should you go for between Varka and Flins in Genshin Impact Version 6.4 Phase 1

Okay, so the new banners in Genshin Impact’s Version 6.4 are here – Varka and Flint! Honestly, it’s tough choosing who to wish on. It really comes down to what your team is missing and what you’re hoping to do with them in the future. Both characters are strong, but I’m trying to figure out which one will be more useful for me right now and down the line. I’m hoping a little breakdown will help me (and maybe you!) make the best decision.

1. Varka

Varka is a new 5-star character who uses a Claymore and focuses on dealing damage as a main DPS. He’s an Anemo character, but his strength isn’t in Anemo damage itself. Instead, he can infuse his Claymore with Hydro, Pyro, Electro, and Cryo to deal damage of those different elements. Varka is also useful for exploring, as his abilities allow him to jump higher and further.

2. Flins

Flins is a powerful 5-Star character who deals Electro damage. He’s known for his adaptable playstyle, centered around his ‘Lunar Charge’ ability. This allows him to either quickly unleash a lot of damage or build up to incredibly strong, repeated attacks if you manage his energy effectively. He works best in teams with a Hydro character and another Electro support, making him ideal for teams that rely on consistent reactions between Electro and Hydro elements.

Right now, Flins is the best character for dealing Electro damage, and ranks among the top four strongest damage dealers in Genshin Impact overall. He can put out incredible damage with both free-to-play and fully-invested teams. If you already have Ineffe and Columbina, you should definitely try to get Flins.

Should You Pull Chronicle Banner Characters

Thinking about spending your Primogems on the Chronicle banner? Probably not a good idea. It’s returning in Version 6.4 with Albedo, Klee, Jean, Eula, Mona, and Diluc. There are six characters available – three that are usually harder to get and three standard ones. Here’s why you might want to skip this banner:

  • In this banner, only Klee and Albedo have pull values. You can get the other three standard characters by losing 50/50, and Eula’s damage is not good enough. That’s why pulling in this banner does not make any sense, where you can lose 50/50 to a standard character.
  • In Chronicle banners, your fate point resets with each Chronicle banner, so don’t pull until you have enough pulls.
  • Latest Nod Krai and Natlan Supports and DPS capabilities are better than the old Mondstat characters. Even with the buffed kit, they can’t compete against them.

Final Thoughts

Okay, so I’ve been looking at Varka and Flins, and honestly, if you’re after damage, Flins is the way to go. I’ve seen comparisons, and whether you’re building a super strong team with lots of resources or sticking to free-to-play options, Flins seems to put out about the same damage as Varka. Now, Varka’s great if you’re just wanting someone for exploring the world and aren’t too worried about big numbers. But if you need a powerful damage dealer, definitely go for Flins.
