Everyone knows this: the 2009 horror comedy, starring Megan Fox, is moving to a new streaming service on March 1st. Get ready for more monster mayhem!

The movie Jennifer’s Body will be available to stream on Starz next month. It’s currently available for rent or purchase on other platforms, but will soon join Starz’s collection of popular films like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, War of the Worlds, and Sweet Home Alabama.

What Is Jennifer’s Body About?

Written by the screenwriter of Juno, Diablo Cody, Jennifer’s Body tells the story of Anita ‘Needy’ Lesnicki and her best friend, Jennifer Check. After a failed Satanic ritual, Jennifer becomes possessed by a demon and starts killing and eating the boys at their school. Needy is left shocked and confused, but still manages to maintain her signature sarcasm.

I’m so excited about this horror movie! Amanda Seyfried is amazing as Needy, and Fox is great as Jennifer. Plus, the movie has a really fantastic supporting cast – J.K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris, and even Adam Brody are all in it, which is awesome!

Despite featuring strong leads, the horror film Jennifer’s Body initially received negative reviews from critics, who criticized its story and dialogue. Though it made a profit—earning $31.6 million against a $16 million budget—it wasn’t well-received at first. However, over the past decade, the film has gained a following and is now appreciated for its clever writing, dark humor, and realistic portrayal of close female friendships.

After critics published harsh reviews, Fox felt they hadn’t truly seen the film, and she believed its eventual status as a beloved queer cult classic was inevitable. In a 2019 interview with Cody for Entertainment Tonight, she admitted, “Even I don’t usually like my work, but after watching this movie, I thought it was fantastic.”

Fox acknowledged she anticipated negative reactions to Jennifer’s Body, but she was surprised the film didn’t receive more critical respect, despite its unique qualities.

The actress said the movie’s fanbase has grown steadily over the years. She wondered if it’s moved beyond just a dedicated following and become a full-blown obsession for many people.

A Jennifer’s BodySequel Is Already In The Works

Now that Jennifer’s Body has gained a larger following and become popular online, the creators are thinking about making a sequel. Director Karyn Kusama mentioned last October that Cody would be involved, suggesting a return to the story’s setting would be just as enjoyable as the first film.

Kusama said she’s thrilled about Cody’s screenplay, which she’s had a glimpse of. She described it as sounding just as fun and wild as the original movie, and she’s confident Diablo will create something amazing with it.

Kusama isn’t the only one excited about the potential return of Jennifer, possibly as a zombie. During an interview last summer, Seyfried hinted at what might happen, playfully calling it ‘Needy’s Body.’ She mentioned she wouldn’t participate in a new film unless Fox was involved, and suggested a way to bring Brody’s character back – even though he died in the first movie, he could return as the devil.

It’s unknown if Cody will follow his lead actress’s suggestion to cast Brody as Satan, but fans can currently rent or buy Jennifer’s Body on streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and the Apple TV Store.
