A highly praised, but often overlooked, British crime drama is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Many viewers describe it as truly excellent.
I recently checked out this old British crime drama called Rose and Maloney, and it was pretty good! It centers around two investigators, Rose Linden – played by Sarah Lancashire – and Marion Maloney, who’s played by Phil Davis. They both work for this agency that reviews criminal cases, and the show follows their investigations.
The program investigates potential wrongful convictions, reviewing past cases to see if they deserve a second look. It explores the difficult questions surrounding the possibility of wrongly imprisoning someone, as well as the risks of releasing a dangerous criminal.

The television series Rose and Maloney first appeared in 2002 and ran for three seasons. ITV cancelled it after the third season in 2005.
The show also featured talented actors like Susan Brown, Anne Reid, and David Westhead, with special appearances by guest stars Danny Dyer, Tara Fitzgerald, and Andrew-Lee Potts.

Fans on IMDb have heaped praise on Rose and Maloney, labelling it “absolutely brilliant” and “underrated”.
One viewer expressed a desire for more seasons of the show, calling it underrated. Another described it as unusual and less grounded in reality than typical mystery programs.
I really enjoyed the first season, especially the two-part premiere! The chemistry between the main characters was fantastic – they just seemed perfectly suited for each other. Honestly, I’m a little worried about how they’ll keep things interesting after three seasons, because it has so much potential. The first season was good, though not amazing – it felt like a typical pilot episode, setting everything up. But it definitely left me wanting more, with a lot of interesting storylines to explore!

One viewer, who also rated it a perfect 10 out of 10, discovered the series unexpectedly and was very impressed. They praised it as excellent, highlighting the strong acting – a common strength in British detective shows.
British TV series are often short, but they’re usually fantastic—I especially loved Rose and Maloney. If you’re looking for a show with a compelling story and excellent performances, I highly recommend it!
I was seriously bummed to find out this show was cancelled! I just discovered it and it’s amazing – the two leads have incredible chemistry. Like, why would anyone cancel something this good? I’m really hoping they bring it back for another season or even a reboot. Seriously, it’s that good!
Rose and Maloney seasons one to three are available to stream now on Prime Video.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find “Dolly at 80” at newsagents or online for only £8.99.
