Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s 2022 Thriller Fall Hits No. 2 on Netflix’s U.S. Chart

Acrophobia, or the fear of heights, is a truly frightening phobia, and Scott Mann’s 2022 film, Fall, is designed to trigger it. Viewers will likely find themselves gasping repeatedly throughout the movie – it’s almost impossible to keep track of how many times!

Viewers are quickly tuning into Fall on Netflix, and the suspenseful movie has already become a hit. Just days after its February 18th release, it’s climbed into the top 5 most-watched films on the platform.

The movie centers around best friends Becky Conner, played by Grace Caroline Currey, and Shiloh Hunter, played by Virginia Gardner, as they try to overcome their fears, including a fear of heights.

Fall Is Climbing … the Netflix Charts

To achieve this, they decide to climb a tall, abandoned radio tower located in a secluded spot, reaching a height of 2,000 feet.

Now, the characters face not only their internal struggles but also a dangerous lack of supplies and the harsh conditions at such a great height – with winds potentially reaching 50 mph and no chance of rescue if they fall. Adding to the film’s strength, Jeffrey Dean Morgan delivers a compelling performance.

For Mann, the concept is as simple as you’d think: .

I’ve always been afraid of heights, and it turns out a lot of other people are too. That’s actually where the idea for this film came from. My co-writer, Jonathan Frank, and I were filming a scene on top of a football stadium in London, and standing way up there, looking down, I realized that no movie had really tapped into that specific fear. It struck me that the pure terror of heights is something almost universal, and it hadn’t been fully explored on screen before.

More Fall Is On The Way

Get ready for a truly gripping experience with Fall. The film’s cinematography is incredibly intense and realistic – it’s visually simple, yet breathtaking – making you feel like you’re right there with Becky and Shiloh, desperately holding on.

Originally planned for around 2026, he has since refined his strategy, focusing on the fear of heights element present in the first Fall game.

Mann said the writing process was captivating. It became a puzzle of how the story would unfold, focusing on creating characters and a compelling narrative that would draw readers in. They did, however, encounter a difficult point where they felt creatively stuck. This led to intense brainstorming, forcing them to find a solution as if their success depended on it. Navigating that challenging situation and figuring out a way forward was a particularly interesting part of the experience, especially given the bleakness of the fictional circumstances.
