James Van Der Beeks’ widow remembers late Eric Dane in bittersweet tribute… days after losing her own spouse

James Van Der Beek’s wife is offering condolences to Eric Dane after his death at 53, a little over a week after she lost her husband.

Kimberly Van Der Beek remembered Eric with a touching photo of their families enjoying time together in the past.

She sent a message of love to Rebecca Gayheart, Eric’s wife, and fondly remembered a touching, yet sad, moment from James and Eric’s time together.

She shared the news of Eric Dane’s passing with a heartfelt message, expressing her love for him and reminiscing about the joyful times they shared at Christmas parties with their friends.

The Van Der Beeks were photographed with Eric, Rebecca, and their two daughters at the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball, a fundraising gala supporting people looking for work. It was the 16th year of the event.

Okay, so Eric and James? They love this cause, seriously. I’ve seen pictures of them at the gala before, even together! It’s so clear they really care, and it just warms my heart to see them supporting it year after year. It’s like, they get it, you know?

Photos reveal James and Eric at a ball in both 2014 and 2007, alongside their wives.

Dane passed away on Thursday, just months after sharing his diagnosis of ALS, a disease also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

According to the Mayo Clinic, ALS is a condition that impacts the nerves in the brain and spinal cord, leading to a loss of muscle control.

Dane announced his diagnosis with the disease last year in April.

James died at age 48 on Wednesday, February 11 following a journey with stage 3 colorectal cancer.

Actor Joshua Jackson is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and their six children: Olivia, 15, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 12, Emilia, 9, Gwendolyn, 7, and Jeremiah, 4.

It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news Kimberly announced on Instagram: her wonderful husband, James David Van Der Beek, passed away peacefully this morning. It’s just devastating, and I’m sending all my love to her and the family.

He faced his final days bravely, with strong faith and dignity. We will share more about his hopes, his deep care for others, and how much he valued every moment. The time to do so will come.

We are heartbroken and ask for privacy and peace as we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

In the days leading up to his passing, James and Kimberly renewed their wedding vows.

She told People magazine that they made the decision just two days prior. Their friends surprised them by getting them new rings and decorating their bedroom with flowers and candles, and they ended up renewing their vows while still in bed.

She called the moment ‘simple, beautiful, and deeply touching,’ sharing it with close family and friends, and including others through a Zoom connection.

It was such a special moment when Poranguí, a dear friend of the couple, played live during their ceremony. He finished everything off beautifully with a heartfelt version of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow,’ and honestly, it brought tears to my eyes. It was the perfect touch!
