The Night Agent Season 3’s Rose Replacement Was Not What I Was Expecting

Be warned, this contains spoilers for season 3 of The Night Agent! Rose Larkin isn’t in the new season, but the Netflix show introduces a surprising new partner for Peter Sutherland as he deals with the trouble caused by “The Broker.” Season 3 features some new faces alongside the returning cast, with Gabriel Basso continuing in the lead role as the Night Agent.

Season three begins roughly a year after the events of season two, where Peter and Rose were forced to separate. Because Peter’s job as a Night Agent constantly put Rose in danger, they realized a relationship wasn’t possible, even though they both wanted one.

Even though Rose won’t be appearing in season 3 of The Night Agent, Peter clearly still has strong feelings for her and hopes they can eventually be together. The season finale leaves the possibility of Rose returning in the future, but also introduces a new character who helps fill the gap left by Luciane Buchanan’s departure.

Isabel Replaces Rose In The Night Agent Season 3, But Not As Peter’s Love Interest

Season 3 of The Night Agent introduces Genesis Rodriguez as Isabel De Leon, a journalist looking into the financial dealings surrounding the Flight Pima 12 crash. Her investigation soon crosses paths with Peter’s, as the conspiracy involves Jacob Monroe, known as The Broker. However, Isabel isn’t meant to be a romantic interest for Peter.

Without Rose, it would have been a letdown if The Night Agent had introduced another love interest for Peter. Luckily, that didn’t happen with Isabel. Although she initially fills a similar role to Rose – a smart and dedicated partner who supports Peter’s fight for justice – Isabel quickly develops into a compelling character with her own unique story.

As the central mystery of The Night Agent season 3 develops, we learn more about Jacob Monroe’s connection to the LFS terrorist group. The show also reveals how Jacob helped get President Hagan elected. But the biggest surprise comes with the reveal that Jacob Monroe is actually Isabel’s father.

Jacob’s connection to the Zapata family – the group that would later become known as the LFS – began in 1995 when he met Isabel’s mother, Sofia, in Mexico City. He learned Sofia was pregnant, but mistakenly believed she had been killed by the Zapatas. It took him many years to finally locate Isabel.

Isabel already had a difficult relationship with her father, but learning about his involvement in corruption and terrorism made things even more challenging. Despite this, she’s determined to expose the truth about him, Walcott Capital, the president’s family, and the LFS, even if it puts her in constant danger.

Could Genesis Rodriguez Return As Isabel In The Night Agent Season 4?

President Hagan ordered the death of Jacob to cover up his family’s involvement in a corruption scandal. He then attempted to do the same to Isabel, Peter, and Chelsea, but they survived. Isabel managed to interview the CEO of Walcott Capital, who confirmed the financial crimes and corruption linked to the Hagans and LFS.

I’ve been following the news about Isabel, and it sounds like she’s still working on exposing everything she discovered. She’s heading to Barcelona for a bit, which leaves me wondering if Genesis Rodriguez will be back for season four of The Night Agent. Honestly, I’d love to see her and Peter team up again! Her investigative skills were a huge asset to the show, and their dynamic was really compelling.
