Okay, so I’m totally obsessed with this movie! It’s about this amazing assassin duo, Sing and Sister Ko, played by Tony Leung and Michelle Yeoh. They pretend to be a married couple for work, but it’s complicated because Sing is actually falling for another woman, Butterfly, played by Joey Wong. And to make things even more tangled, Donnie Yen’s character, Ye Xiang, is clearly head-over-heels for Sister Ko! It’s a real love square, and it makes the action even more interesting.

Michelle Yeoh delivers a standout performance as Sister Ko, bringing warmth and humanity to a character who could easily be seen as a cold, ruthless killer. This complexity highlights a key element of Butterfly and Sword – and often the wuxia genre as a whole – which is its constant ability to surprise you.
