You know, I was really hoping “Nova Force,” Disney’s big sci-fi action movie from last year, would catch on. It didn’t do great in theaters, and now it looks like it’s faded on streaming too. It had a good run – a whole month in the Top 10, which is pretty rare these days – but that’s officially over. It’s a shame, I thought it had potential!
According to FlixPatrol, TRON: Ares is no longer in the Top 10 most-watched shows on Disney+ in the United States as of February 20, 2026. The movie spent the previous week mostly at number 9, briefly jumping to number 6 on February 17th. Now it’s been removed from the Top 10, replaced by other Disney+ content. While TRON: Ares had stayed in the Top 10 for about a month, suggesting it might be recovering some of its production costs, the latest rankings are disappointing.
TRON: Ares Became a Surprise Streaming Sensation after Box Office Troubles
Right now, The Princess and the Frog is the most popular movie on Disney+. It’s even beating out Wonder Man, which has moved up to second place and gained three spots. The Muppet Show, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, is also doing well, climbing three places to land in third.
Two new movies entered the Top 10 today: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at #4 and another at #10. This likely caused TRON: Ares to drop out of the rankings completely. It’s unclear if TRON: Ares will be able to get back into the Top 10, especially since it’s been falling in popularity for the past week.
As a big fan of the TRON universe, I was really excited for TRON: Ares when it came out in October 2025. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations, and critics were pretty divided. It only made about $142 million worldwide, but cost somewhere between $180 and $220 million to make – a tough result. It’s a shame, because the last film, TRON: Legacy from 2010, did really well, earning over $400 million on a $170 million budget. It just goes to show how different things can be!
Jared Leto, originally from Bossier City, Louisiana, played the character of Ares in the latest TRON movie. Ares is a sophisticated program within the film’s digital world, known as the Grid. The cast also featured Greta Lee (known for Russian Doll), Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship), Hasan Minhaj, and Arturo Castro (Broad City). Jeff Bridges returned to reprise his iconic role as Kevin Flynn from earlier TRON films.
TRON Fans Have Actually Loved Ares Despite Its Financial Woes
Although TRON: Ares didn’t achieve blockbuster success, it’s actually been better received than the previous film, TRON: Legacy. Critics gave Ares a ‘rotten’ score of 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, but viewers strongly disagree – 84% of over 5,000 verified reviews are positive. This is an improvement over TRON: Legacy‘s 51% critic score and 64% audience rating, suggesting that Ares might not be as poorly received as some suggest.
Despite multiple sequels, none have matched the impact of the original Tron from 1982. The film still enjoys a 60% approval rating from critics, and over 50,000 fans have given it a positive 69% rating. Given the long wait – from 1982 to 2010 and now 2025 – for new films, the original remains the standout title, at least for now.
TRON: Ares is now streaming on Disney+.
