Oscar snubs 2026: Gwyneth Paltrow, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Avatar: Fire And Ash left out in the cold

The Oscar nominations were announced on Thursday morning.

Okay, so Sinners, One Battle After Another, and Marty Supreme definitely deserved the hype, but honestly, the awards show was WILD. There were so many amazing titles that got completely overlooked – it was shocking, seriously shocking! I’m still reeling from some of the snubs, it felt like they just…forgot about certain games. It’s frustrating when incredible work doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, you know?

Ariana Grande and her ‘Wicked’ co-star Cynthia Erivo were both overlooked by Oscar nominations. Grande wasn’t nominated for Best Supporting Actress, and Erivo didn’t receive a nomination for Best Actress.

Gwyneth Paltrow was also notably absent from the nominations, despite her performance in Marty Supreme alongside Timothée Chalamet, who was nominated for Best Actor.

And also not on the long list was the James Cameron film Avatar: Fire and Ash for Best Picture.

Despite earning $1.3 billion globally, the latest Avatar film wasn’t nominated for Best Picture at this year’s major awards.

Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman revealed the nominees for all 24 awards, including the newly added award for casting, during a live broadcast from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The 98th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood. You can watch it live on ABC and in over 200 countries around the world.

Conan O’Brien is returning to host the Oscars, following a successful appearance last year that helped the show achieve its highest viewership in five years.
