The Killing Eve prequel has finally revealed its cast.
The BBC’s new spy thriller, Honey, is shaping up with the announcement of its lead actress and supporting cast. While the BBC hasn’t officially confirmed it’s connected to Killing Eve, Honey centers around a British intelligence agent working undercover on a crucial, secret operation.
According to Deadline, Ann Skelly will star as Martha Schmitt in the upcoming series Honey. Her character is an agent working undercover on a crucial mission. She’ll be joined by Nate Mann (as Kurt Fischer), Jannis Niewöhner (as Friedrich Bauman), and Rory Kinnear (as Graham Anderson), who all have leading roles in the show.
The show also announced several other cast members and their roles: Oliver Cudbill will play Stefan Weiss, Sonita Henry will be Anne Anderson, Victoria Mayer will portray Ingrid Schimmel, Valentino Dalle Mura will be Rolf Muller, July Namir will play Kamilla Akhmedova, Julian Niedermeier will be Otto Kowalski, Sofia Oxenham will portray Greta Abstreiter, and Daniel Zielinski will play Tomas Klein. Details about the characters themselves haven’t been released yet.
The series centers on the tense struggle between Martha, who is working undercover, and Friedrich, the head of counterintelligence for the Stasi, as he hunts for British spies in East Germany. It’s a new production from Sid Gentle Films, the company behind Killing Eve, and the script is written by Emma Moran.
Back in April 2025, Deadline was the first to report on “Honey,” a potential prequel to “Killing Eve.” According to the publication, actress Skelly’s character, Martha, is believed to be a younger version of Carolyn Martens – a character originally played by Fiona Shaw. The BBC hasn’t officially confirmed that “Honey” is a prequel, but they haven’t denied the reports either.
The series Killing Eve was initially a critical success, receiving high praise for its first two seasons. However, the show’s quality declined in seasons three and four, which were poorly received by both critics and viewers. The finale was particularly controversial and disliked. The upcoming prequel will reportedly not include the main characters from the original series, and will instead consist of six episodes.
Now that the actors are set, we can expect more details about the series soon. It’s unclear if the BBC will officially announce that Honey is a prequel to Killing Eve before the show airs. For now, it looks like we’ll have to wait for more information to be revealed later.
