Ryan Gosling’s “perfect” new sci-fi hailed as “first masterpiece of 2026”

An early screening of Ryan Gosling’s upcoming sci-fi film, Project Hail Mary, has received rave reviews, with some calling it the first truly great movie of 2026. The film is based on the popular novel by Andy Weir and tells the story of a science teacher who mysteriously finds himself aboard a spaceship.

Dr. Ryland Grace wakes up with no memory of who he is or why he’s on a spaceship. He soon learns he’s humanity’s last hope – tasked with figuring out what’s causing the sun to fade and finding a way to save Earth. Along the way, he forms an unlikely friendship with an alien named Rocky.

A recent screening of the new movie from the creators of The Lego Movie, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, received high praise from Frozen star Josh Gad, who was among the attendees.

Gad shared that the book is a personal favorite, and he was amazed that the movie lived up to it, delivering a similarly powerful experience.
