Netflix has renewed Beef for a second season, which will premiere in 2024. New photos offer a first glimpse of the expanded cast and hint at more conflict over eight new episodes.

The second season of Beef premieres on April 16th and will center around Ashley Miller (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Charles Melton), a newly engaged couple who both work at a country club in entry-level positions.

After accidentally witnessing a heated argument, they quickly become entangled in the difficult breakup of their boss, Joshua Martin (Oscar Isaac), and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martin (Carey Mulligan).

The story follows two couples as they compete for the favor of Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh-jung), the wealthy owner of an exclusive club. Chairwoman Park is also dealing with a personal scandal involving her husband, Doctor Kim (Song Kang-ho), and uses both influence and pressure to get what she wants.

The cast also features Seoyeon Jang from Butterfly, William Fichtner known for Prison Break, Mikaela Hoover who appeared in Superman, and the South Korean rapper and songwriter BM (Big Matthew).

Even though Steven Yeun and Ali Wong won’t appear in front of the camera for the second season, they’ll still be involved as executive producers on the show Beef.

In a 2023 interview with Digital Spy, the actors described how they developed their unusual relationship for the show.

Yeun described the experience as enjoyable and unexpectedly cozy. He explained that during breaks and between shots, the cast really connected and formed close bonds. This created a safe and comfortable atmosphere, which then allowed them to play off each other convincingly on screen – and have a lot of fun doing it.

Wong explained that the show portrays a relationship where the two characters appear to be enemies and deeply dislike each other.

At its heart, it’s a story about two people forming a deep connection, truly seeing and accepting each other – flaws and all – and feeling safe enough to be completely vulnerable with one another.

It’s just as crucial to build a connection as it is to create tension—in fact, tension itself can often bring people closer.
