Millie Bobby Brown forces a smile with Jake Bongiovi on her 22nd birthday months after welcoming first child

Millie Bobby Brown was seen on her 22nd birthday with husband Jake Bongiovi.

The actress from Stranger Things tried to look cheerful while out in New York City on Thursday with Jon Bon Jovi’s 23-year-old son, but the encounter seemed a bit uncomfortable.

Their first child, adopted over the summer of 2025, wasn’t with them on this outing.

Brown looked effortlessly stylish on her outing, wearing a black leather jacket over a black top, paired with loose-fitting blue pinstriped jeans and black heeled boots.

She accessorized with large black Christian Dior shades and gold hoop earrings.

She parted her light brown hair down the middle and kept her makeup simple, letting her natural beauty shine through.

Bongiovi wore a grey sweater with a white T-shirt, indigo jeans, white Maison Margiela sneakers, and sunglasses.

Last August, the actress announced on Instagram that she and her husband had adopted a child.

The actress has been sharing more about her life as a wife and mother, but she’s very careful to keep details about her daughter private.

In an interview with British Vogue’s December issue, she explained that she wants to protect her child’s privacy and won’t share their identity until they’re old enough to make that decision for themselves.

I feel strongly about protecting her and her experiences, and allowing her to share them herself when she’s ready,” Brown said. “It’s our responsibility to shield her from unwanted attention.”

Millie Brown has officially changed her last name to Bongiovi and is now known as Millie Bonnie Bongiovi.

During a fun interview with her co-star Noah Schnapp, he briefly mispronounced her updated name, but she quickly and happily corrected him.

The young couple, each from a family of four children, have always said they want a lively and full house.

She told Vogue she dreams of having a large family and that she and her partner share parenting responsibilities equally. She described him as a wonderful and incredibly supportive father.

After years of talking about wanting a family and considering adoption, the couple got married in May 2024.

In August, they officially announced that dream had come true.

‘This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,’ they wrote. 

We are thrilled to begin this new journey as parents and ask for privacy as we adjust to life with our growing family.

The actress shared on the Smartless podcast, co-hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, that she’s excited about becoming a mother.

She explained that her parents were very young when she was born – her mom was 21 and her dad was 19. She added that dealing with this family dynamic had been a part of her life long before she met Jake.

Ever since I was little, I dreamed of being a mother, wanting to be just like my own mom. My grandmother was also incredibly important to me and played a big role in my life.

Brown explained that Jake understands how much starting a family means to her. While she’s dedicated to building her career as both an actor and a producer, she also feels it’s personally important for her to begin that journey.

‘It’s a huge thing. Jake was like, we cannot do that until we get married. So that was his thing.’

Brown then added: ‘And my thing was, I really want a family. I really want a big family.

Both my partner and I come from families with four children, so we’re open to having a large family. But personally, I don’t see a big difference between having a biological child and adopting a child.

As a lifestyle expert, I always say your home should be a haven, and mine definitely is! Jake and I really believe in creating a welcoming space – we want everyone who walks through our door to feel instantly comfortable and loved. It’s about an open-door policy, not just physically, but emotionally too. We strive to fill our home with positive energy and acceptance for all.
