The popular 2003 thriller, The Italian Job, is now available on Prime Video. Praised for its style and excitement, the film stars Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton, and Jason Statham. It tells the story of a team of thieves seeking revenge – and a big score – after being betrayed by a former partner during a heist gone wrong a year earlier.
The new version takes its inspiration from the 1969 film starring Michael Caine, and boasts a cast including Seth Green, Mos Def, and Donald Sutherland.
When The Italian Job came out, it was both a popular and critically acclaimed film. This success led to plans for a follow-up movie, The Brazilian Job, but that project was eventually cancelled.

The thriller has a strong 72% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics agree that while the plot has a few weaknesses, The Italian Job is a fun and updated version of the classic 1969 heist movie, largely because of its charming actors.
RogerEbert.com described The Italian Job as a stylish heist film featuring incredible car chases and a clever plan to steal $35 million in gold from a vault in Venice.

According to the Chicago Reader, this film provides enjoyable, lighthearted entertainment. The villains, including Edward Norton, are convincingly evil, the revenge is childishly satisfying, and the predictable plot is surprisingly pleasant.
The London Evening Standard praised the production as clever, humorous, and well-executed, with a smooth and polished feel. They said if a classic story needs to be updated, this is a perfect example of how to do it.

The BBC compared the remake to the 1969 film The Italian Job, stating that while the original wasn’t a masterpiece, the remake significantly surpassed it. They described the original as simply average, but the remake as far superior.
The San Francisco Chronicle praised the film as both fun and intelligent, highlighting its clever plot, playful execution, and a charming cast that brings a lot of positive energy to the screen.
The Italian Job is streaming now on Prime Video.
