Amy Dowden looked fantastic in a swimsuit on Thursday while enjoying a luxurious vacation in the sun.
The 35-year-old dancer and TV personality, known for her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing, shared stunning photos on Instagram. She looked amazing in a brown and blue swimsuit, especially considering she had a double mastectomy last year.
In May 2023, Amy received a cancer diagnosis and began treatment, which included a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and fertility preservation. She faced a life-threatening battle with sepsis and later underwent a second surgery in November to improve her condition.
I’m loving this look! This dancer is absolutely rocking a patterned swimsuit, and the little detail of a matching belt really defines her waist. The backdrop? Stunning! Picture this: a beautiful ocean view and an amazing infinity pool. It’s the perfect vibe for a summer day and a seriously chic moment.
Oh my gosh, I just saw photos of Amy! She was looking absolutely incredible, hiding from the sun with this amazing woven hat and sunglasses. And get this – she’s somewhere totally gorgeous with Ben Jones! I’m dying to know where they are, it looks like pure winter bliss. Seriously, she just radiates happiness, even hidden behind shades!
She later packed on the PDA with husband Ben as they kissed in a sweet snap over looking the ocean.
The BBC personality shared a photo in a swimsuit, saying she was enjoying beach club vibes while celebrating a friend’s birthday. She playfully mentioned showing off the look ‘from all angles’.
In December, Amy shared a heartfelt post looking back on her cancer journey. She contrasted a photo of herself at her lowest point with a current picture showing how happy she is now.
Amy received good news about her health in February 2024 and is now back on Strictly Come Dancing. She was previously partnered with Thomas Skinner on the show last year.
The actress posted a poignant side-by-side photo: one from two years ago showing her in the hospital, visibly ill with hair loss and an IV in her arm, and another recent photo of her looking healthy and well.
It really struck me when I read Amy’s post – she honestly shared her fear that she’d lost a part of herself, that she wouldn’t be the same after her cancer battle, and felt like it had taken away her joy and energy. But what was truly beautiful was how she highlighted the incredible support she received from her husband, Ben, and her dance partner, Carlos Gu, who were instrumental in her recovery journey. It’s a powerful reminder of how important loved ones are when facing something so challenging.
Amy shared two photos, noting that they were taken exactly two years apart this weekend. She expressed how seeing these memories filled her with pride.
The second photo was taken after I was hospitalized by ambulance because I was very sick. I later found out I had another blood clot in my lung, and was also experiencing the side effects of eight rounds of intense chemotherapy.
I vividly remember turning to my husband, Ben, and a close friend as I got into the ambulance. I told them that cancer had changed me forever, and that I knew I’d never be able to dance again. It was the most despairing moment of my life.
I also broke my foot, and I worried I’d never regain my former self, Amy. This picture was taken two years later, after a year of performing on two dance tours – including ‘Strictly’ – and some incredible experiences. It was taken three weeks after I had another mastectomy…
It took a lot of effort and a full year of hard work, but I finally feel like myself again. I’m sharing this to show everyone that it is possible to overcome challenges. It wasn’t easy, but I succeeded!
I regret not acknowledging my accomplishments sooner. Still, I’m incredibly proud of how resilient I’ve been, particularly over the last year – I really had to push myself.
A year ago, after my cancer diagnosis, I believed I’d have to stop dancing. I was ready to give it up, but my wonderful husband, Ben, and my friend Carlos, who was also on Strictly, wouldn’t let me. They helped me continue dancing despite everything.
Tonight, I’m celebrating making it through a tough year. Working hard and focusing on my love of dance, along with the amazing support of my doctors, family, and friends, really helped me through. I’m so grateful for all of you, and I love you dearly. Cancer tried to change me, but it hasn’t, and it won’t!
In November, Amy gave a health update, noting it had been two weeks since her second mastectomy. She posted a selfie taken after surgery, showing her wearing a compression bra and checkered pants.
She shared that she’s proud of her progress since her surgery and is now concentrating on enjoying everyday moments and appreciating small achievements.
I was so moved by Amy’s latest post! She shared a photo she took the day she left the hospital after surgery, and it’s just so inspiring. She says tomorrow will be two weeks post-op, and she’s rightfully proud of her recovery – and honestly, she should be! It’s amazing to see how far she’s come in such a short time.
I’m making steady progress with my movement by concentrating on small improvements and doing a little more each day. I’m being patient, paying attention to what my body needs, and acknowledging every accomplishment, no matter how small.
I’ve been feeling much more like myself this week, and it’s a really positive change. Don’t forget to take time for self-care and check in with how you’re doing.
