Following a frightening robbery, gymnast Simone Biles was seen out with her husband, Jonathan Owens, in Milan.
The Olympic gymnast’s husband revealed he was nearly robbed while in Milan for the Winter Olympics.
The NFL player said on X (formerly Twitter) that someone tried to steal his bag while he was shopping in Italy on Sunday. The attempted robbery was very bold.
Simone and Jonathan recently attended the Winter Olympics in Milan, where they were seen enjoying both the figure skating and speed skating competitions.
After everything they went through on Thursday, it was lovely to see the couple out and about, clearly still very much in love. They were holding hands and just seemed so happy to be together, which is wonderful after such a frightening experience.
Simone dressed for the outing in a black turtleneck sweater, tight leggings, and chunky white sneakers. She completed the look with a black leather handbag.
Jonathan was wearing a brown tracksuit and carried a patterned leather weekend bag.
Jonathan shared that someone attempted to steal his shopping bag in Milan last week. Luckily, he instinctively held onto the bag by tying it to his hand, preventing the theft and causing the would-be robber to flee. He described the experience as ‘crazy’.
Jonathan received a lot of messages from worried fans who couldn’t understand why anyone would steal from an NFL player.
He said it wasn’t a quick chase, joking that the other person’s arms were moving faster than their legs. He added that it was funny to see the other person’s reaction when they realized he’d turned around and couldn’t reach what he was going for.
Jonathan mentioned he’d prepared for potential burglaries after getting ideas from TikTok videos.
I know, it’s true, but there was absolutely no way he was going to remove it from my hand. I’d seen so many videos on TikTok of that happening, so I was ready for it, he explained.
Simone, who has won seven Olympic gold medals in gymnastics, tried a new sport last week, switching from summer to winter events.
The couple attended the men’s figure skating final on Friday and watched as American Ilia Malinin, a top contender for gold, had several falls during his performance.
Simone competed in speed skating on Saturday, and then spent Sunday exploring Milan.
It comes after Simone revealed she recently picked up a ‘daring’ new sport.
Simone isn’t training gymnastics right now, and she hasn’t said whether she plans to compete in the 2028 Olympics.
While waiting, Simone has started horseback riding lessons to add some variety to her fitness routine.
Besides Pilates, Simone mainly focuses on her horseback riding lessons. She had a lesson yesterday at 5:30 PM, which was later than usual. Normally, she rides in the morning, but they scheduled it for the evening before because she had other commitments.
Simone and her husband Jonathan recently moved to a new home in Houston, which is perfectly situated for her to pursue a new hobby.
I live right next to some stables, so I decided on a whim to start taking horseback riding lessons. I was bored and thought, ‘Well, the stables are right here, so why not?’
Simone also revealed that she is looking to start taking ice skating lessons.
‘I haven’t started. I have to start my first lesson, so that is coming very soon,’ she added.
After an amazing showing at the Paris Olympics – where she earned three gold and one silver medal – Simone is now enjoying a break from gymnastics.
