‘I’m strong and positive’: Corrie legend Beverley Callard, 68, says she is ‘counting her lucky stars’ ahead of ‘big operation’ as she gives health update on breast cancer battle

Beverley Callard shared an update on her health via Instagram on Wednesday, before undergoing surgery as part of her breast cancer treatment.

The well-known Coronation Street actress, age 68, recently learned she has been diagnosed with an illness. This news came shortly after she moved to Dublin to begin filming for the Irish soap opera, Fair City. She shared the news publicly earlier this month.

Beverley, famous for playing Liz McDonald on the television show Coronation Street, shared that her cancer was detected early. However, she will need to travel back to the UK for treatment, including radiotherapy and surgery.

She recently announced she’s scheduled for surgery at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital this Friday. She expressed feeling grateful and optimistic, saying she’s ‘counting her lucky stars,’ as doctors will be removing two lymph nodes.

After a breast cancer diagnosis, doctors often remove lymph nodes from under the arm because cancer cells sometimes spread there and get caught in these nodes.

Beverley shared an update on social media, explaining that she visited the hospital this morning for a discussion about her lymph nodes and glands.

Doctors don’t think the problem has spread to the lymph nodes, but they’ll remove two of them during my surgery on Friday just to be certain.

I’m facing a major surgery, but I have complete faith in the doctors and staff. I wanted to share that the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, part of the NHS, is providing incredible care.

The staff took a lot of time with me, and with all the other patients too. It was really helpful to be able to talk to people who understood what I was going through, especially since some were facing even more difficult situations than mine.

I honestly feel so grateful for everything. There are so many incredible, strong women out there – it’s truly inspiring. So, whatever tomorrow brings, just keep pushing forward and you’ll get through it.

Honestly, the hardest part is just waiting. I’ve been cleaning the house constantly because my mind won’t rest.

Tomorrow’s the day – the operation! Honestly, I’m feeling really good about it, surprisingly strong and positive. If you’ve been through something similar, or are going through it now, please reach out and let me know how you’re doing. It would mean a lot to hear from you.

‘Truly, your stories mean a great deal to me.’

The soap opera actress will be joining the RTÉ show ‘Fair City’ as Lily, the mother of a current character, Gwen (played by Emily Lamey), who was previously believed to be lost.

Earlier photos released for publicity show Beverley dressed as her character, sporting a black leather jacket.

In another photo, the actress is wearing a cream-colored, ruffled jacket and jeans as she stands by a sign that says ‘Welcome to Carrigstown’.

Beverley recently responded to rumors that she was using weight-loss injections after people noticed her weight loss.

In a video message to her fans about losing weight, she explained that she’s always worked incredibly hard and has consistently prioritized fitness.

Beverley stated that her impressive body is the result of dedication and effort, not weight loss injections.

She stated she wouldn’t judge anyone for getting vaccinated and encouraged everyone to make the best decision for their own needs.
