This Morning’s Michelle Elman rushed to hospital for emergency surgery just months after ‘complex’ medical issue left her skull filling up with water’

Michelle Elman, a presenter on This Morning, recently had to go to the hospital for urgent surgery.

The 33-year-old TV personality revealed on Instagram this week that she’d had her 19th surgery.

Sharing a snap from her hospital bed, she wrote: ‘Ended up needing emergency surgery.

Chinese New Year didn’t bring a fresh start after all. I actually had surgery on the very first day of the year, coinciding with the holiday.

Michelle later shared that the incident left her with two new scars on her neck and collarbone, and she playfully described what her first thought was when she woke up.

I woke up with two new scars on my neck and collarbone, and my first thought was thankfully, my tattoos were still intact. It really put things into perspective!

She later shared a sweet photo of a beaded bracelet made by her nephew, which read: ‘Get better.’

Along with a heartwarming photo, Michelle shared details about her ongoing health struggles, explaining that she’s had nineteen surgeries in total.

‘I think 19 surgeries is enough for a lifetime,’ she added.

It is currently unknown what kind of surgery Michelle underwent at the time of writing this.

The news follows an announcement from the This Morning personality that she had significant surgery after a tube in her brain ruptured, causing fluid to build up inside her skull.

The TV life coach took to social media to open up on the ‘complex’ medical issue.

Michelle shared that she had surgery last November to address a new cyst on her brain and replace a magnet in her head.

Michelle was born with hydrocephalus, a condition where there’s too much fluid around the brain. Doctors later found she also had a brain tumor. A special device helps manage the fluid flow.

The TV personality revealed on Instagram that she was hospitalized again after undergoing complicated surgery, posting photos showing her head wrapped in bandages.

While recovering in the hospital, Michelle shared that she recently had a risky surgery to repair a tube placed inside her skull to manage fluid buildup.

I was so shocked to see her hospital photos and read her message. She explained they found a problem with a tube in her brain – and unbelievably, it wasn’t even the one they were trying to fix! It’s just terrifying to think about, and I’m sending her all my love and hoping for a speedy recovery.

I’m honestly amazed I managed to write an entire book while dealing with a serious health issue for so long! It’s incredible to think I’ve also been interviewed on live television and radio numerous times.

‘Absolute madness. Might explain some of my other questionable life choices!’

She said she’s really frustrated with people describing her situation as complicated, unusual, or something they’ve never seen before, and feels like she might lose it if she hears it one more time!

‘I’m only accepting the terms “medical miracle” from now on.’

Michelle described her surgery, explaining that the doctors had to choose between a procedure with higher risks and one with lower risks.

I worried the risky procedure might end up being unnecessary, leaving me with just another scar for no good reason.

I took a big chance, and it worked out well. It’s a thrill, a real rush – some people chase that feeling with gambling, but I found it by risking everything.

Last week, while resting in bed, Michelle shared an update with her followers, asking for their encouragement as she continues to create TV-related content online, even while hospitalized. She jokingly asked for help ‘pretending she’s not in hospital’.

The celebrity explained that they’ve been dealing with symptoms for three months now, spending over a month in and out of the hospital. They’re frustrated, especially since January usually has a lot of good TV shows, and much of their work revolves around television content.

Honestly, stuck here in this hospital bed, totally by myself, I’m just wasting time watching stuff. It makes me so frustrated because I should be making things – the stuff I actually want to create, you know? I just wish I could be doing that instead.

After everything I’ve gone through in the last three months – particularly the brain surgeries and their impact on my thinking – I want to be able to fully use my mind if I still have one.

I may not be in peak physical condition at the moment, but my mental clarity is back, and it took over a month to recover.

I can’t lift my head right now because of a drain in my brain, and it’s difficult to get dressed with all the tubes attached to my body.

I’ll try to be humble, but I plan to share my thoughts and ideas freely.

I’m not feeling my best right now, but I want to share what’s on my mind and keep creating. I’m actually in the hospital, but I don’t want that to stop me from making content.

I’d rather not discuss the details of my health. It’s just… disheartening and frustrating, especially since I feel like I shouldn’t still be stuck in the hospital.

In November, Michelle shared that she needed another surgery, following an MRI, and had been keeping track of her doctor’s appointments.

The TV personality shared a personal update on Instagram, telling her followers she’s going through a difficult time with both good and bad experiences. She explained that she received some upsetting news that morning and wasn’t ready to process it.

Michelle recently shared that she needs a second brain surgery. Doctors discovered another cyst in her brain, and the magnetic implant she previously received also needs to be replaced.

Okay, so this isn’t a crisis, but it is something I need to get done. My priority now is finding a time that fits into my schedule with minimal disruption. It’s all about smart planning and keeping my life running smoothly, you know?

I’ll eventually need to put my life on hold to handle this, probably next year. But until then, I’ll continue with things as normal.

Michelle explained she prefers not to discuss her health, because she’s always focused on living a full life beyond any illness or medical limitations.

Before she turned twenty, the presenter underwent fifteen surgeries to address serious medical issues, including blockages in her intestines and a punctured intestine.

She went on to say that her medical history is complicated, but she’s learning to accept it. She feels grateful for the life she’s lived, having fully enjoyed every experience, and doesn’t have any regrets.

In a 2018 appearance on Loose Women, Michelle described the experience of clinically dying after her brain surgery, explaining what it felt like when her heart stopped.

When she was eleven years old, she had brain surgery. During the procedure, her heart stopped, and she recalls an out-of-body experience, feeling like she was floating above herself while in the hospital bed.

She described death as peaceful and calm, hoping to ease people’s fears about it not being as frightening as they imagine.

The relationship guru explained: ‘I still remember floating above my bed.

As someone who’s thought a lot about living a full life, I want to share something that brings me peace: the end of life can actually be incredibly calm. It’s a comforting thought, and I truly believe knowing this can offer solace, letting us feel a little more at ease knowing even our final moments can be peaceful.

I thought only a few minutes had passed, but it turns out it was just a few seconds. I recall everything that occurred, even though I apparently had my eyes closed.

‘I didn’t talk about it for years but it makes me sound a bit crazy.’
