Bridgerton star says her character “needs a sabbatical” amid exit speculation

Adjoa Andoh, known for her role in the popular Netflix series Bridgerton, has addressed speculation about the future of her character, Lady Danbury. Reports suggest she may appear less frequently in the show, or possibly not at all for some time.

So far this season, viewers are buzzing about a possible rift between Danbury and Queen Charlotte. Their friendship appears to be suffering due to an uneven power balance, and Danbury has hinted she plans to step down from her role as lady-in-waiting.

During an appearance on the show Lorraine this week, actress Nicola Andoh addressed host Lorraine Kelly’s suggestion that her character, Danbury, wouldn’t be leaving the show, hinting that something unexpected might happen.

“Danbury, she needs a sabbatical, let’s say that,” said the star.

Although things currently look uncertain for Lady Danbury, the show’s creator, Jess Brownell, has indicated she will return in future seasons of Bridgerton, even if not right away.

Brownell stated definitively that Adjoa will not be leaving the show and will continue to be a key character in season 5.

She explained that the storyline focuses on how a friendship changes when one person has more power than the other.

The showrunner explained that it was fascinating to see Lady Danbury pursue her own desires. This also allowed them to delve deeper into the complexities of her friendship with another character.

There’s been recent talk about whether Florence Hunt and Will Tilston, who play Hyacinth and Gregory Bridgerton, might be recast in the show.

Julia Quinn, who wrote the Bridgerton books, addressed the speculation about whether the actors playing the younger characters will be old enough to lead the stories when the show adapts those parts of the series.

Bridgerton season 4 part 2 will drop on Netflix on Thursday, 26 February.
