In a recent interview, Jason Statham confessed he’s sometimes pushed the limits with the dangerous stunts he performs in his action films.
I was really intrigued to hear the actor talking about his new thriller, Shelter. He mentioned he’s had a few injuries during filming, and admitted they were often the result of him making little errors on set. It’s good he’s being so open about it – filmmaking can be dangerous, and mistakes happen!
The movie, coming out on January 30th, stars Jason as a retired hitman forced to confront figures from his past while trying to save a young girl.
Okay, so he basically admitted that while he loves doing all those insane action scenes himself – and honestly, that’s what I adore about him! – he’s gone a little overboard with some stunts in the past. He said he ‘took things too far,’ which, ugh, a little scary, but also…so him! It just proves how dedicated he is, even if it means pushing himself a bit too much. I’m just glad he’s still willing to do so much of his own stuff, even after realizing some things were a little reckless.
Jason mentioned he’s injured his neck and other parts of his body several times, and those experiences make him reflect on past errors.
He said that even though he and his fiancée Rosie Huntington-Whiteley have two young children – eight-year-old Jack and three-year-old Isabella – he believes in going all in on things.
At the London premiere of Shelter, Jason explained to the BBC that he enjoys performing his own stunts. He said he’s developed the necessary skills through years of training in various disciplines and likes to be actively involved in the action sequences.
The actor discussed how filming a difficult open-sea rescue scene for his new movie presented a significant challenge.
Let me tell you, that shoot was a real physical challenge! Creating the illusion of effortless movement underwater is tough enough, but trying to make it look good while wearing a heavy jacket and those big size 10 boots? Definitely not easy – anyone who’s been in the water knows that adds a whole new level of difficulty!
The upcoming action thriller film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Ward Parry.
The movie, which hits cinemas January 30, also stars Bodhi Rae Breathnach and Bill Nighy.
The movie tells the story of a man living alone on a faraway Scottish island who saves a girl from the ocean. This act sets off a dangerous chain of events, eventually leading to an attack on his home and forcing him to confront his troubled past.
Jason is teaming up again with director Guy Ritchie and actor Vinnie Jones for their upcoming gangster film, Viva La Madness.
The actor, a former footballer now 60 years old, and the famous Hollywood star are working together again, following their collaboration in director Guy’s 2000 movie, Snatch.
Reports say filming will begin in the next few weeks, and Vinnie is the newest actor to join the movie’s cast.
Jason will play the role that Daniel Craig popularized in Matthew Vaughn’s 2004 film, Layer Cake.
Now writer JJ Connolly is adapting his second novel, for film.
According to a source at The Sun, ‘Viva La Madness’ is a follow-up to J.J. Connolly’s ‘Layer Cake,’ but it will be a separate film and not part of an ongoing series.
Guy is excited to lead the project again. With Jason and Vinnie joining the team, we’re expecting incredible results.
This project really captures a classic British spirit. It’s shaping up to be energetic, quick-paced, and proudly patriotic. Jason and Vinnie have fantastic chemistry on screen, and the whole film crew was delighted when Vinnie joined the cast.
Daily Mail has contacted Vinnie’s representatives for comment.
While the exact storyline for Viva La Madness hasn’t been revealed, it will continue the narrative of an unnamed drug dealer known only as X, played by Jason.
After turning his back on a life of crime, X started fresh in the Caribbean. But his peaceful new life is disrupted when two British gangsters show up and cause problems.
