‘He’s his own worst enemy’: Lifelong Republican and Trump ally Pat Boone urges president to dial down his bravado in rare public rebuke

Pat Boone, a longtime Republican and well-known entertainer, has publicly advised President Donald Trump to be more humble while in office.

The 91-year-old singer, a long-time supporter of Donald Trump, recently shared his opinion that the president’s biggest challenge isn’t what he does, but how he acts.

He’s achieving a lot, but he doesn’t need others to praise him, according to Boone in an interview with the Daily Mail.

‘He wants to make sure you know, and he wants his name on too many things.

‘And I think he doesn’t seem to grasp that that’s turning off more people than it is attracting.’

Boone shared his thoughts while attending the 33rd Annual Movieguide Faith & Values Awards Gala in Los Angeles earlier this month.

He warned that Trump’s harsh language and frequent boasting could turn away potential supporters.

I’ve known him for many years. We first met at Mar-a-Lago when he was filming The Apprentice and starting to appear on TV.

‘It’s obvious he’s a genius at what he does.

‘I feel like he’s his own worst enemy though, at the same time.’

He also cautioned that while Trump has already fulfilled a lot of his campaign promises, public support could wane if he fails to deliver on the rest.

Boone believes Trump prioritizes seeking public praise for his accomplishments instead of allowing his achievements to stand on their own. He suggests the president would benefit from adopting a more understated and composed approach, similar to that of a previous Republican president.

I admire how Ronald Reagan accomplished things with a quiet confidence. It would be great if more leaders could achieve results similarly – delivering on their promises without making a lot of noise, so people are pleasantly surprised by their success.

‘He doesn’t have to yell it to us and make sure that we know.

He deeply believes in his potential to be a remarkable leader, dedicated to serving the nation and achieving lasting recognition for his greatness.

‘Well, it’s hard to keep on being great if you keep talking about it. At least that’s my view.’

This is a surprising statement from Boone, who has consistently been a strong supporter of Trump and has spent time with him socially in Florida over the years.

He also said he wouldn’t hesitate to tell Trump to be more moderate in his policies and statements if he had the opportunity.

I haven’t spoken with him lately, but I want to congratulate him on his accomplishments and also offer a word of caution.

‘I would want to warn him to be very careful, not just about the effects of everything he does.

Unexpected consequences can sometimes arise, even when your intentions are good. It’s okay to admit mistakes and say, “I should probably refine this or make that adjustment.” It’s possible I acted too quickly, but we’re still making progress.

‘That kind of humility would wear well.’

Boone considered what he wanted to see happen during the next three years of Trump’s presidency, and what he hoped the President would say as he finished his second term.

You know, if I were advising someone on how to present themselves, I’d say it’s all about showing genuine accomplishment with a touch of humility. It’s important to be able to say, ‘I delivered on my promises,’ but also to demonstrate self-awareness. Being able to admit when you need to slow down and ensure everyone understands your vision? That’s true leadership. It’s about progress, not just speed, and always keeping the audience in mind.

I was so excited to see Boone at the Movieguide gala! For those who don’t know, Movieguide is the go-to source for finding movies and TV shows that are great for the whole family – they really do a fantastic job with their reviews.

Okay, so you HAVE to know, this awards show is EVERYTHING! It’s on the Great American Family network next month, and honestly, it’s always been my absolute favorite. I’ve seen pictures of Boone there for years, and he always goes – it’s like, a tradition for him! It’s all about celebrating hope and inspiration, which, let’s be real, is exactly what we need right now. I’m already counting down the days!

I appreciate this event because Dr. Ted Baehr, the founder of Movieguide, consistently provides accurate box office reports.

He’s discovered that while movies with dark or negative themes might be popular, films that are family-friendly and offer positive messages tend to be more financially successful. Essentially, uplifting stories perform better at the box office than those that focus on negativity or portray villains winning.

‘My career began in a family theater in Nashville, Tennessee, when I was a teenager.

On Saturday afternoons, parents could drop their kids off for three hours of fun, filled with cartoons and positive movies. This gave parents a much-needed three-hour break.

I also performed in a few small talent shows, and it just confirmed what I’ve always believed: that living a good, moral life focused on helping others is the best way to be healthy and happy.

The Movieguide Awards will be broadcast on Great American Family and streamed on Pure Flix starting at 8pm Eastern Time on March 5th.
