‘The most important family is the one you create’: Gordon Ramsay goads the Peaty family at Adam and Holly’s engagement party as first signs of their explosive feud are revealed in his new Netflix series

Caroline Peaty was deeply upset last year when she was uninvited to her son Adam’s wedding to Holly Ramsay, which took place in December.

In Gordon Ramsay’s new Netflix show, Being Gordon Ramsay, the chef seemed to subtly criticize the Peaty family again, highlighting how important it is to build strong family connections.

He shared that the family we choose is the most important one, and since she comes from a wonderful family, now is the time for her to build a family of her own. He described it as a special occasion.

Caught in a difficult family conflict, the wedding was only attended by the Olympian’s sister, Bethany. Adam is facing criticism from his family, who believe he’s been influenced by the Ramsay family’s wealth and celebrity status.

In the Netflix episode released on Wednesday, the swimmer openly shared his admiration for the well-known TV chef, but didn’t say anything about his own family.

He explained that marrying someone means becoming part of their family, and he feels Gordon is a kind, respectful person with a good sense of humor—qualities he shares himself.

A video from the couple’s engagement party, filmed several months before a family argument at one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, has been released. The footage shows Caroline and Holly sharing a warm embrace.

Despite asking to not be included in the final version, Caroline, 60, will still appear in the upcoming series of Being Gordon Ramsay, it was recently disclosed.

Someone familiar with the situation shared that Caroline had contacted Netflix to express her concerns. She stated she hadn’t given permission to be filmed for Gordon’s program and, considering the circumstances, didn’t want to be included in the show.

Although we don’t see her face, the photo shows one of the last happy times she shared with her future daughter-in-law, before their relationship fell apart.

Gordon started his speech by saying, ‘I’m thrilled to welcome Adam and George to the team! Seriously, this is fantastic news!’

Holly is a wonderful person, and we’re so excited for the happy future she and your family will share. Tana, the Ramsay family, and we all wish you the very best – we couldn’t be prouder of you all!

Adam shared that he always knew he wanted to marry Holly, explaining that she brings a sense of peace to his life that he’s never experienced before.

He also specifically thanked Holly’s father, Gordon, saying, ‘Thank you for trusting me with your wonderful daughter.’

‘I’m just very glad that you didn’t say no when I asked for permission to marry her.’

And it is clear the feeling is mutual, with Gordon describing Adam as ‘so grounded’.

‘He’s not walking around as an Olympic champion with his head up his a**e. He’s my type of guy.’

Holly observed that Adam has a good relationship with everyone, but she was particularly pleased to see how close he is with his father.

Holly’s sister, Tilly, remembered how quickly Holly became smitten with the swimmer, and how warmly the rest of the family accepted him.

‘I think I saw her the day after her date and I remember her being like “Oh my God, I love Adam”.

They connected immediately and have been incredibly happy ever since, especially after getting engaged. She’s been noticeably more cheerful since meeting him.

Tana, her mother, explained that welcoming Adam into the family felt completely natural, and they were thrilled to also gain a wonderful ‘bonus’ – his son, George.

Holly, the eldest of Gordon’s three daughters, is getting married, and he was very emotional when talking about it.

He expressed his sadness to the cameras, saying it felt like his daughter was growing up too quickly and he couldn’t believe she was getting married.

This is going to be really difficult. I’m worried I’ll completely fall apart, and even getting into the car will be a struggle.

He continued, saying he hadn’t expected her to get married so soon. While he acknowledged she was prepared for marriage, he admitted he wasn’t, and found it difficult as her father to reconcile those feelings. He felt the difference in their readiness was a challenging situation.

Gordon Ramsay’s wedding speech made news in January when The Sun reported he praised his daughter Holly’s beauty and told her new husband, Adam, how fortunate he was. He then pointed to his wife, Tana, saying Adam could expect a similar future with Holly.

The article reported that Gordon made a hurtful comment to his daughter, Holly, about Adam’s parents not being present, saying, ‘It’s a shame you don’t have the same.’

I was so shocked to hear that Adam’s mother was really upset about Gordon mentioning their family drama in his wedding speech. Apparently, she was absolutely outraged and deeply hurt that he brought up their long-standing feud in front of everyone. It’s just awful to think about how that must have felt for her on what should have been a happy day.

Following the release of her new documentary, Caroline posted on Wednesday about the importance of loving children unconditionally.

Okay, so after watching the show, Caroline posted something that completely blew my mind! It was this simple but powerful thought: parents are always about making us better, fixing things, and what we achieve. But grandparents? They just… are. They’re just happy to be with you, and it’s honestly the most beautiful thing ever. I’ve been thinking about it non-stop!

Forget about grades, stress, or trying to be perfect. Research indicates that children who have involved grandparents tend to be more emotionally secure by the time they reach age 10.

‘When a child is loved without expectation, self-worth becomes internal, not negotiated.’

In the documentary, Gordon shared how his difficult relationship with his own father influenced how he approached fatherhood. He spoke about growing up with his father, also named Gordon, who struggled with alcohol.

He described a difficult relationship with his father, recalling a time when his father called him a snob. He responded by saying he wasn’t a snob, but simply wanted to escape the challenging circumstances he was born into.

Despite now being worth around £162 million, Gordon grew up in poverty, moving between 15 different council estates while his mother worked three jobs to provide for the family.

The chef recalls weekends where he would ‘almost watch his father ruin his life through alcohol’.

He went on to say that dealing with someone who has a drinking problem is incredibly difficult. It’s hard to understand because it naturally makes you feel anxious and uneasy.

You’re anxious about finishing the alcohol and knowing what will happen afterwards.

He mentioned he often feels guilty, stemming from watching his younger brother struggle with heroin addiction throughout much of his adult life.

The famous chef grew up sharing a bedroom with his brother, Ronnie, 58. Their family moved frequently between low-income housing projects while their parents, Helen and Gordon, tried to build a life for them.

Although Ronnie later achieved great success as a chef, restaurant owner, and television personality, he struggled with drug addiction throughout his life and was dependent on heroin.

In the second episode of the documentary, he revealed that his brother has struggled with heroin addiction for forty years. They grew up sharing a bunk bed, and his brother is just fifteen months younger than him.

I’ve been through incredibly difficult times with him, and it’s left me feeling guilty. I keep thinking things could have easily been different – that I could have been in his situation instead.

He added: ‘I’ve been dealt the dysfunctional card.’

This week, Tana shared details of her conversation with Adam’s mother before he married Holly, describing how she expressed concerns about Holly’s emotional state at the time.

And Tana, 51, told Grazia how she praised Adam to his mother before the big day.

Oh my gosh, I just have to tell you what she said! She told me she met Adam’s mom and immediately gushed, ‘Seriously, your son is just… perfect! I can’t imagine anyone better for Holly. She’s so sensitive and needs someone who really gets that, and he’s just… him!’ It was so sweet, and honestly, I totally agree! They’re just meant to be, you know?

She’s incredibly funny, smart, and quick-witted, but she also needs someone to help her stay focused. Adam is able to balance all of that. Both of them have faced significant challenges in their lives.

I told his mother that I thought he was a wonderful match for our daughter. I was so pleased to finally meet her and share that with her.

According to a family friend, Caroline was deeply upset by a comment made during a speech and feels the chef intentionally targeted her with a mean and hurtful remark.

Gordon stood by his wedding speech, describing it as ‘perfect and warm’ when discussing it with This Morning’s Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

Gordon admitted it’s a really emotional experience. As a father of three daughters, he’d always pictured their special day, and when it finally happened, he was overwhelmed with feelings.

The speech went really well – it was spot on. To connect with people, you need to be genuine and show emotion. It’s a challenging task, though.

Tilly, his daughter, confessed she’d heard the speech beforehand. She remembered listening while he practiced it in his room, saying, ‘I think it was Christmas Eve, and I sat with him for about an hour while he went over it.’

‘Going through everything but no tweaks were needed, it was perfect. It made everybody cry.’

You know, even with all the drama, I really understood Holly’s perspective. Despite Caroline being upset, Holly actually felt incredibly happy listening to her father’s speech – she was truly overwhelmed with joy, and I think it’s important to remember that everyone experiences things differently.

Holly told British Vogue about a happy moment during Gordon’s speech, sharing a picture of herself and Adam smiling and laughing together.

Honestly, one of the most beautiful moments for me was listening to my dad give his speech. I glanced around at all our guests, and it just hit me – this incredible wave of love and happiness radiating from everyone. It was truly overwhelming in the best possible way, and something I’ll cherish forever.

Holly recently shared that her parents covered the costs of her and Adam’s honeymoon in Mauritius, describing it as their gift for the wedding. This comment seems to be another pointed remark directed at her distant relationship with the Peaty family.

She explained they were heading to Mauritius for a relaxing beach vacation, a gift from her parents as their wedding present. She also mentioned she had to let her husband, Adam, know their honeymoon wouldn’t revolve around a large swimming pool.
