‘Baywatch’ Reboot Casts Original Star David Chokachi

Get ready for a fresh take on Baywatch! A reboot of the classic series is coming to television, and now we know a familiar face will be joining the cast. This news follows the recent announcement that Stephen Amell, known for his role as Oliver Queen in the Arrowverse, will star as Hobie Buchannon – the son of Mitch Buchannon (played by David Hasselhoff in the original ’90s series) and the character previously played by Jeremy Jackson.

I’m so excited! Variety is reporting that David Chokachi – remember Cody from Baywatch? – is coming back! He’s going to reprise his role in the new Fox version of the show. He was a lifeguard for a few seasons back in the day, starting in season six, and now apparently he’s traded in his buoy for… owning a bar and grill! It’ll be fun to see what he’s been up to.

The Shoreline, known as the unofficial hangout for lifeguards and still reminiscent of the Baywatch era, continues the tradition of lifeguards on duty. It’s a supportive hub where lifeguards find mentorship, friendship, and a second home, complete with free wings as a reward for heroic rescues.

In September 2025, Fox announced it will revive Baywatch for the 2026-2027 television season, ordering 12 episodes after years of planning. Matt Nix will lead the show as showrunner and executive producer, working alongside the original creators—Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz—to maintain the show’s classic feel. Filming is set to begin this spring, with McG, known for his work on Charlie’s Angels, directing the first episode and also serving as an executive producer.
