Zendaya reveals her relationship ‘red flags’ amid romance with Tom Holland and says ‘you can know someone for a long time and they can change’

Zendaya has recently discussed warning signs she looks for in relationships, especially considering her relationship with Tom Holland.

The actress, who got engaged to the Spider-Man actor last year, recently talked about how people can surprise you and evolve, even after years of knowing them.

Zendaya recently revealed a warning sign she’s learned to watch out for, stemming from her experiences as an actress. She pays attention to how people in the film industry treat the people working behind the scenes on set.

The Dune star began dating Tom after they met on the set of Spiderman: Homecoming in 2016.

The actors began dating after sparking romance rumors, and they officially confirmed their relationship in July 2021 when pictures surfaced of them kissing in a car.

Zendaya revealed some warning signs she looks for in relationships while talking with her “The Drama” co-star, Robert Pattinson.

Interview Magazine documented a conversation between Zendaya and Robert Downey Jr., where Zendaya playfully asked what she considered a surprisingly appealing ‘red flag’ in a partner. Robert found the question itself to be thought-provoking.

Zendaya explained, ‘As I’ve matured, I think a red flag is a red flag, you feel me?’ 

Oh my gosh, you guys, Robert asked him – asked him! – what a red flag was, and it was the BEST answer ever. He said, basically, how someone treats the people they work with? Like, their team? That’s it! That’s how you know what they’re really like. Seriously, it’s so smart, it totally makes sense! If they’re awful to their crew, forget it, right? I’m obsessed with this. It’s the perfect litmus test!

She went on to say that she really respects people who are consistently kind – not just to those in positions of power like actors, directors, and producers, but to everyone.

How a film crew interacts with an actor is a great indicator of their true personality, because the crew observes them when they’re not performing.

Zendaya also pointed out that people are complicated and everyone makes mistakes. She added that cultural differences also play a role.

‘But there are also things that are just kind of, ”Well, that’s rude. That’s mean.”

People can surprise you in different ways. Sometimes, someone you’ve known for years will change, or you’ll discover a completely new side to their personality, even after knowing them for a long time.

In the upcoming comedy, The Drama, releasing in April, Robert and Zendaya star as a couple whose wedding plans are threatened by a hidden secret.

This marks the beginning of a three-film partnership between the actors. They will also appear together in the upcoming sci-fi movie Dune: Part Three, and in The Odyssey, director Christopher Nolan’s take on the classic Greek story.

Zendaya has talked about how she and Tom balance their relationship with their careers, while also making sure to keep their personal lives private.

You know, I’ve worked with a lot of people, and I’ve learned how important a calming presence is on set. This particular actor? He just has it. Zendaya added, with a touch of personal fondness, that he’s not just her favorite person overall, but also the one she most enjoys collaborating with.

It’s important to realize that you won’t have complete control over all of your privacy. However, we work hard to strongly protect the parts we can control.

When they’re not filming, Tom Holland and Zendaya split their time between Tom’s home in Richmond, West London, and Zendaya’s longtime home in California.

The actress, originally from Oakland but who moved to Southern California with her family when she was a teenager, shared that she loves living in England.

Zendaya explained that she and her fiancé value their privacy, especially because she’s been in the entertainment industry since she was a child.

As someone who’s been navigating the entertainment world since my teen years, I can tell you it’s been…complex. Landing that first big role on ‘Shake It Up’ with Disney Channel was amazing, but starting so young definitely came with its challenges. It’s a unique experience, and honestly, it’s something I’m still processing even now.

I appreciate the chances I got and what I learned, but I also definitely missed out on typical experiences growing up as a teenager.

She credited her mother and father for supporting her during her rise to fame.

My parents have always been very protective, and I couldn’t have handled being in the entertainment industry so young without their support.

Zendaya and Holland first met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016.

The actors began dating after appearing together, and they officially confirmed their relationship in July 2021 when photos surfaced of them kissing in a car.

The acting couple will both appear in Christopher Nolan’s new movie, The Odyssey, which comes out in theaters on July 17th.

The actors will be appearing together again in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, which comes out on July 31st.
